    Mark Seaby Up For Trade

In a report tonight from Perth radio station 6PR, Mark Seaby has walked out on the Eagles seeking a better opportunity at another club in 2009.

At the age of only 24 I reckon he is worth looking at IMO.

    Nick Davis for Seaby?

Wouldn't be the worst trade and I think we'd be the winners, just. I'd love to see Davis get regular game time and if that happens to be with West Coast then I'd b watching more of their games in 2009.

Like I said in another thread, though, I hope we give Davo another chance.

Well, that sure is bad news for Peter Street.

Would pay our 3rd rounder (#45?) for him in a heartbeat. In a strong and almost-last-uncompromised-for-years draft, though, 2nd rounder would probably be too much. Sydney would pay it, though, based on past form.

Chance for what? He is 28, largely failed since his fifteen minutes of fame in 05, the game has passed him by and has shown disloyalty.

          I'd throw in a 4th round pick.

Maybe Roos' lunch with Cox was not about Cousens but Seaby.

The odds on Naitanui joining the Eagles must've shortened significantly.

He's been a good 2nd ruckman but never a standout, although he's been OK as a forward. However, he could barely get a game this year with the Eagles despite the club becoming a basket case.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Swans try to get him.

Eagles aren't going to want 3rd or 4th rounders, if they trade Kerr for the 2 first rounders that they're after, they will have 5 picks in the first 20. There's only so many players they would want to pick in one draft.

                    I don't believe it has.

You should consider giving the loyalty thing a rest, too. It's a two-way street and he's been given less chances by the club than a few other players.

Yes please. Direct swap for Brabazon.

Do we really lack ruckmen? Currie is set to line up with Jolly, we have decent pinch hitters in LRT, White and Playfair with Pyke another possibility in the not too distant future, and Orreal a little further down the track.
Seaby is worth considering because as well as rucking he could be useful up forward, and I think he fits the profile of a fair quality player who could well do better at another club (like Ted).
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Yep i'd give Seaby a shot. Thank christ he didn't get his hands on the Leo barry mark.

We're an injury to Jolly (or even Currie) away from having a major ruck crisis though.

Brisbane always had 3 quality ruckmen in their flags and more recently Hawthorn and Geelong had 3 in their squads (with one missing out).

It will be a huge ask, if not unrealistic, to expect Currie to play 22+ matches next season.

I'd pick him up for the right price, but if the report is that he wants to leave for better opportunities and we are viewing him as primarily for ruck depth, at best a second string ruckman, is that really better than his current position?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
