    Strong Under Pressure

We know finals are all about Pressure and as a team the Swans as a whole usually perform very well under pressure. Some players however lose aspects of their game under intense GF pressure. Magic lost his kicking skills,Ablett lost decision making,Jude missed easy shots and forgot to hand ball etc etc.On the other hand all of these players kept other skills under pressure.Magic gained possession and handballed brilliantly.
Who are best and most consistent players under pressure?

I rate Kirk our top player followed closely by Buchanan and B2. Who shines under pressure and who wilts?

Agree with those three and add Kennelly and Jolly.
Of the young boys...Bird looks good under pressure, as does Jack.
But when the kitchen gets white hot...you can't go past Leaper...... lest we forget.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

      Buchanan??
Wow that's a left-field call to have him next to Kirk.
He has some positives but he's one of the few players who hears footsteps and ducks his head in a marking contest.
Not sure how he is regarded by you as very close to our best under pressure.
      Are you related?
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Do you think there was any pressure in the final quarter of the '05 GF ?????

Buchanan's final quarter in the 05 GF was as crucial as Davis' final quarter a fortnight earlier. We would not have won the flag without either of them.

        Buchanan is no squib.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

OK, he is prone to making tackles look worse than they are, trying to win a free kick, but when it comes to committing himself to a contest, Buchanan is one of our toughest players. He puts in the one percenters week in, week out, and always attacks packs at full force. Not sure where that attitude comes from.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

I'd include Baz. Apart from decking Staker, he absorbs high pressure week in, week out, and hands out plenty of his own. He's a strong presence on the field - I just wish he'd stop complaining and whingeing to the umps about his lot and get on with the job.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

That's very true! In weak matches the Leaper can be embarassing at times but when the going gets real tough ,he has never let us down and THAT MARK is famous forever because of the context, the sheer guts to do that and the consequences that flowed from it all.I'll add Bazz to the list and defend Buchanan being there. He was also sensational in the last quarter in 2006.Not his fault we lost! Goodes should be on the list but isn't because of that long bomb forward in the dying moments of GF 2006 when finding a chest in the forward 50 arc would have won the game for us.
