Ordinary start and a so so finish.
Really picked up the slack from Kenelly and Eski. Will be interesting to see all three of them running off the back line in 2009.Comment

A great pickup for the Swans, did a good job filling the hole left when Malceski was injured but also a very good in the HBF/Wing position. He played every game of the season, which is a good thing and seemed to fit in well with Roos' game plan (I suppose there's not much difference between his and Craig's).
Statswise, he improved in possessions (avg. 18.6 in 2008 vs. 15.3 in 2007), consistent in marks (4.5 vs. 4.4) and greatly improved in tackling (4.8 vs. 2.3), in which he finished 8th in overall tackles and 11th in tackles per game.
His overall performance was really good and there are probably a handful (or less) games that he were below average. He had 20 or more disposals in 11 games and had 5 or more tackles in 13 games. This includes 26 disposals against Geelong, 25 disposals against West Coast, 10 tackles against Collingwood and 12 tackles against Essendon.
He's an important player and the combination of him, Malceski and Kennelly is always damaging to the opposition. I'm expecting the same level of consistency and another good season from Mattner.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adoreComment

Was pleased when we picked him up at the end of last year, and he's given us good service over the year. Admittedly I've liked the guy since he helped my SANFL side win the flag a few years back.
Like a few others, can't wait to see him beside a fully-fit Kennelly and Malceski next year. Plus Shaw? The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment
