I imagine that if you contacted the club to confirm whether he is back or not, they would tell you the same as they told us yesterday in the article published on the website. (You don't need to read beyond the 3rd line.)

If he can't run for 8-10 weeks, maybe he had the operation and flew back to Ireland for some Christmas potatoes.
