Straight from the horses mouth. Now which scarf should I wear ????? ha ha

Well the positive is that we have one less week to wait for the football season to start. We can then enjoy the win for two weeks.

Stupid, dumb idea. I'm sure the hundred point shellacking will really entreat a whole new generation of AFL supporters... A stand alone game on a weekend in the middle of the year (like the split round game we played against Collingwood), would have been far superior.

If they are putting in on the opening NRL weekend it will be a bigger flop. Oh well, we'll finally win round 1 though.

Forget the politically correct nonsense and let the players speak their minds. Let them generate an on field hate that rivals the other local derbies.
Sheedy taking pot-shots is inevitable. However the likelihood Swans decides not to take the 'nice guy, straight bat' approach to the media id exceptionally small. We prefer to let our footy do the talking and I for one hope that is the case. Anyway, seeing the mighty Simon Black reduced to awkward and uncomfortable trash-taking wasn't pretty.

Simon Black was the wrong guy for the job no question but I'm sure we have a player who can snipe back and look good doing it. I just get sick and tired of all the politically correct sycophantic nonsense from players before a match. "There a good team, We have to play well Yada Yada Yada" I don't listen to player interviews leading into games because it's the same crap every week.

While Black was the wrong one to deliver the line, I loved what he said. It provided an edge to the contest and the build up to that game was great as a result.

Well they will give away lots of tickets to get the numbers up and this prevents the game being played at the new "Skoda Stadium" which is the showground.

I'm interested to see what the screen is like there because it's suppose to be the best in the southern hemisphere in terms of quality.

It would be nice if the SCG Trust could let a few mothballs out and upgrade the screens there.

Is anyone really going to take the AFL's attempts to build up some sort of instant rivalry between us and GWS seriously? If the AFL want the whole idea of a team in Sydney's west to work they should keep their heads down and bums up, and work on developing a decent team and garnering support in that part of Sydney (which I believe they are doing), and not worry about sniping at the Swans. Some sort of made up rivalry between us and a team that hasn't even played a game yet is downright silly and somewhat insulting to many of the people that have followed AFL in this city for a long time...

I don't see your logic .This game is going to have the best chance of any buildup , then the GWS are going to be thrown into the deep .GWS are always going to be thrown into the deep end with little chance of hypeing things up down the track .

I don't understand your logic. GC saw a marked improvement in their competitiveness as the season when on, but after round 1 everyone was wondering if they'd win a game in the whole season. The first Swans GWS game will ALWAYS build up hype whether or not it is the first game of the season or in round 11. At least in their 11th game for example, they will be more able to put up a fight and provide an interesting contest.

                      Anyway, what's done is done.
