    TLM Count - Round 3-4

Round 3 v West Coast, Subiaco.

Brownlow Medal 3:Adam Goodes (SY) 2:Kieren Jack (SY) 1: Dean Cox (WC)

    Another debutant in Alex Johnson.
A very tight game for most of the night. This time the sub made a huge impact. Gary Rohan was subbed on and his fresh speed changed the course of the game, along with Everitt who became an important target up forward. His 2 goals, which were the last of the night gave the swans a 13 point victory.

Goodes and White kicked 3 goals, whie Kennedy and Jack led the possession count.

    2-0-1

    Round 4 v Geelong, SCG

Brownlow Medal 3:Paul Chapman (GE) 2:Jimmy Bartel (GE) 1:Shane Mumford (SY)

In a surprise move Bevan started up forward kicking 2 goals in the 1st term helping give the swans some hope witha 7 point qtr time lead. However, 2 behinds in the second didn't help the cause. Geelong were wasteful in front of goal too. An even 3rd term set up an exciting final term. First goal to Kennedy reduced the lead to 7, but then the Cats put there foot down with 3 goals in 10 minutes, to win the game.

Cats by 17. Mumford and Bevan kicked 2 goals, Kennedy and Shaw led the disposal count.

    2-1-1.

The anticipation of who comes 2nd is unbearable. My money is on daylight at this stage.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

        Interesting on Rnd 3.
Shows that players like Bird and Mattner do a job that most of us don't notice.

They make it clear on B&F night that the coaches rate players according to the role they are asked to perform. It is easy to imagine a player racking up very few disposals in a game but still being well judged by the coaches if he has performed the defensive tasks that they set him.

In answer to Scott's (surely rhetorical ?) question - yes , Goodesy will win it.
There'd be a bit more tension in figuring who will run 2nd !

One "surprise" will be that Jude Bolton scores much better in the TLM than he did in the Bobby.

Rhyce Shaw is a prime example. There are others of course but Shaw quickly comes to mind. The negating role often goes unrecognised by the Press and some supporters. My memory is not serving me well but in an earlier game this season, he completely blanketed a gun player and gained little recognition from the Press. As touched on by Liz, the role he played would have been crucial to the game plan that day.

Yep, and a shut down player very rarely rates a mention in TLM or in the game day thread, except that he played crap coz he only had 2 touches all game, even though his opponent might have had only 2 as well.

We just might get a shock this year and it won't be Goodesy.

                    Then again, pigs might fly.

Ah well, not really. Some of us are girls and we also assess smile factor and all round goodlookingness as well as play on the day. Shallow, I accept, but don't apologise for.

Well in that case, Joshua P Kennedy will romp it in!
