    Moore speed

What would we do with Jarred Moore who had an extra metre or two of pace?
I?ve been working with Matt Shirvington (the former Australian 100m champion and Olympian) doing sprint training for the last three months at the Club. Matt comes here on Tuesdays and instead of doing the first training session of the week, I?ve been doing sprint training with him, and Jarred Moore has joined in too. We do it over at Lakeside. It has been great. He has changed my running technique and I?m on top of that. It helps me with the spread as I?m quicker over the first five or 10 metres but also I?m running more efficiently because of my better technique. It really helps towards the end of games. With the new substitute rule you have to be able to run all day, so the training has really helped.
    From Dylan's season review: http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/n...9/default.aspx
I admire his (Jarred's) attitude; I hope we see the benefits.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I hope we do to. If he can develop a tank and a sprint, he'll be a very good player. Somehow I doubt a single preseason of work with a sprinter will do the job though...
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Doggy is such a good tactician, and decision maker. I saw that little parr and thought, yippee this might work for him. Well, no stone unturned, and I hope it works. I have always liked the Dog.

All heart and effort Moore, I hope this can help him get back in the side.

So we can see more of this: (*tears* as Bevo slots one from 50 on the run...)

There's no doubt he is a genuine footballer, not a common thing these days. He's as big a trier as we have too.But the lack of speed!!!

Problem is he is an average footballer at best.

An average footballer doesn't make it onto an AFL list and get games, so I'm guessing average afl footballer? Why in your opinion?

I think him to be above average to good with his speed holding him back from consistent good performances and getting a game in our 22.

I think he has great footy smarts, has heart, can tackle, can mark quite well over head for a little fella is a reasonable kick especially going forward inside 50.

So what are your criticisms other than speed?

To emphasise this point Lewis Jetta has the speed but hasn't he footy smarts, hasn't the same heart, can't tackle as well, and doesn't have a reasonable kick especially going forward inside 50 as Moore does. I am not denigrating Jetta, for I believe he can be a star, but I just hope that Moore regains his spot in the firsts next season.

I hear ya, though to be fair to Jetta they play different roles, but as we all know Jetta wasn't getting enough of the ball to cover up his other deficiencies so he started getting dropped. Hopefully the coaches can keep the changes going both ways when the players deserve it. Which I think they have been pretty good with.
