    What's our problem?

    What do we think?

Two losses in a row. Our 13th loss in 15 starts at the home of football. Is it a G problem, a Tiggers problem, or like the coach are we just bewilderered?

It's multiple choice - pick more than one.

Indeed, and poor starts, which is what cost us the 2 losses. Take out the first quarter of both games, I think we won the rest

No problem was my choice. Every season we lose one (or two) that we shouldn't but it happens. The Tiggers must really get themselves up for their games against us, like we used to when the Blions were on top. I realise that is 10yrs ago but I still remember that I would look forward to our games against the Lions because the boys really stepped up and played great games.

Clarify. Is the poll 'What's the problem at the MCG' or 'What's the problem atm'?

A very good question! When the lament is that 'we didn't play the way we wanted to play' it begs that very question. We know the team can play good footy. Maybe its because the opposition are outsmarting you with their strategies and match ups??????

I know we armchair coaches could sort them out eg swing Everitt to the wing to be a link up player (if only he could hold his marks) on one side and Jets on the other, Seaby or whoever up the middle. Don't leave Sam alone in the forward half with about 4 opposition players guarding him and no one on the lead.. Don't expect the key in and under mids to be like yoyos the whole game, kicking goals one minute, shoring up the defence the next etc etc (I don't know how they do it!) The tall players have got to have greater impact, taking marks and protecting the smaller players. It would be good to have a Gary Rohan clone too. There you are Horse - a few suggestions.

First 4 games we scored (goals only)to them:
                4 / 1
                4 / 2
                5 / 3
                5 / 1

                Last 3 games:
                2 / 5
                1 / 5
                0 / 5

                Tells an interesting story.

But then we have been in front at 3 qtr time in all games bar the tigers

The problem is we play footy and you win some and lose some. No team is perfect and I would expect our coaching staff and players are working to improve those areas that need improving.

We're a bunch of opinionated no-hopers who think that because we watch one game of footy a week and waste our lives in online footy forums we know better than a dedicated coaching team who each spend 50+ hours/week working directly with the team and planning strategy.

Oh sorry, just realised you were talking about the Swans....

We have a few problems, winning 5 in a row managed to mask those issues. Losing two in a row has now exposed them. We have a lot going for us when we play close enough to four quarters of the footy that we like to play. When that effort is down slightly, all our little and big flaws are going to stand out like a sore thumb. Which they are right now. Our midfield, though down the past two weeks, is very good, and has depth. It lacks pace, probably, but has some of the best contested ball players in the comp and has some fire power. It can be accused of switching off, which i think was the case on Saturday and in patches against Hawthorn, North and Freo. Our defense is IMO a top 4 defence. Cant really fault much of what they've done at all this year. Our forward line, well, where do you start. Reid is out of sorts, injured perhaps, but cant really be blamed. Is young, playing a tough position and getting far too much attention. Its the support acts, or lack of, that are making his job difficult. Walsh, Pyke, Spangher, 1 or 2 or all of these will at some point have to be given a chance to improve our F50. I think Walsh will probably get a call up this week, maybe Pyke too. Moore for an out of touch Benny Mcglynn might also be a move to consider.

Agree with much of the above but I can't see how Moore would change the midfield mix. Goodesies speed and creativity is sorely missed when he is not in the midfield.

I would add that the first half of the Hawthorn game had the alarm bells well and truly ringing but a magnificent 2nd half completely masked them.

I had another random demented thought, that our midfield, while strong was indeed exposed by teh tigers. I think our reliance on JPK and Parks to do the job at the start of the match has taken a bit of a toll on them and it may be time to start Jude and ROK in the middle of the action, then bring the young uns in to take over rather than the other way round. The thing that sparked us up in the third q against tiges was Jude on the ball, and ROK loose in defence. Certainly we have problems forward, but if the midfield isn't winning the ball, we don't really need a forward line. I've made enough comments about lack of pace
