    Indigenous players mapped

A cool idea from the AFL Players' Association which has received zero publicity - indigenous players mapped according to their cultural or language group.

Goodes and Jared Petrenko are Adnyamathanha on the Spencer Gulf.

Eddie Betts, Ashley McGrath, Daniel Wells are all Wangkathaa, and so on.

NO mention of the Jettas, though.

There's two polar opposites if I've ever seen one.

One's an ornament to the game, brilliant orator off the field with a bright future post career in politics or similar.

The other's a total @@@@ing wanker who runs around the field antagonising opponents and getting in their faces....

I see, Noongar doesn't have a yellow button.

But wow, amazing lineup of players. Buddy, Yarran, the Krakeours, the Jettas, Paddy Ryder, Stephen Hill.

Love this map. It makes you watch the footy a little differently. Pathetic that it's had no publicity.

It's had quite a few mentions on Twitter. Considering that I'm not glued to my Twitter timeline nor is it full of footy tweeps, I guess it's getting reasonable coverage there. Hope that seeps out in other communication. With this round being Indigenous Round then it's great to see it.

Fascinating. And the first mention of it I've seen.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Why isn't there more PR about this? So typically australian, to ignore our indigenous folk or just offer them a tokenism sense of appreciation.

BTW there are a few players i didnt know who were indigenous, like Sharrod Wellingham.

It's a great map, and I'm sure many of us who read it will be surprised by how many indigenous players there are, and also the wide range of places they're from. Helps me better appreciate the diversity of players we have in this great competition.

Sharron's a regular on the marngrook footy show.

One thing I know for sure ... they take footy very, very seriously in Noongar country.

Dont watch any footy shows tbh.

                        Even the good ones.
