I think the Moose has a bit of work to do before he reaches Teddy status, I thought it was kinda lame.. Sorry Moose, I'm sure you'll improve !

At least he has the wherewithall to give it a go! Not a bad go at that.

I loved it, he is definitely taking a different tack compared to Ted's casual approach! I think the idea was to come across as factual to counter Ted's jibes.

Good crack at it. Bit short though.

Hmmmm, I'm not so hot on his (or his ghost writer's) use of "Ted Richard's" in the first paragraph. The apostrophe abuse is criminal.

If you think it doesn't matter, you're wrong.

An excellent read and well written too.....I for one would be happy to be able to see time remaining displayed at the ground.

I remember that, years ago, the time shown on the scoreboard at the SCG used to count down instead of up. It was always thrilling during close finishes. I never heard why they changed it. Does anyone know?

Great article. Extremely well written. I know I wasn't a fan of his first open Pyke, but this is one is excellent . Good on him.

Well-written piece! I remember there was a close game a few years back involving us where there was some controversy about the timekeepers blowing the siren early, about 20 seconds were lost I believe, and we just held on to win.

He makes an interesting point, but I don't agree.

I love a close finish in the NBA. I love the drama of the last minute, which can take 10 minutes to play. You frequently see them go back to the replay and adjust the clock by less than a second which seems ridiculous, but it makes a big difference. Last year the Bucks were one point behind, had the ball on the sideline and about 1.1 seconds to play and managed to win the game.

Having said that, I think it would be a mistake to show the clock in the AFL. For a start, a kick after the siren would have been less dramatic than what actually happened, regardless of whether he made it or missed. People are talking more about this game than about Goodes's miss last year, I think. Not knowing the time increases the suspense. It's like working on a bomb without knowing exactly when it will go off. Just remember those last moments of the 2005 GF.

Knowing the time will also encourage players to manage the clock more, particularly at the end of quarters and the game. The team that's up will start to play safe with a few minutes to go in each quarter and at the end of the game. As long as there is the possibility of more time on the clock than they think, there's incentive to try and score again.
