Starting tonight and the next few weeks we'll be counting down the Troy Luff Medal.
Round 1: Sydney Swans (100) def GWS (37), ANZ Stadium
Brownlow Medal: 3. J Kennedy (Syd), 2. K Jack (Syd), 1. S Mumford (Syd)

The debut of Greater Western Sydney. The first ever Sydney Derby. The first time the Swans have played the opening gameof the season.
Harry Cunningham debuted for the swans after being promoted from the Rookie list only the week before after a strong NAB cup series.
The game started very slowly with the new boys keen to show they had what it took. The swans ever so slowly took the ascendancy. It wasn't until the 3rd quarter that the swans stamped there authority on the game kicking 5 goals to nil.
GWS showed skill and tenacity to hold their own where others thought they might tire.
Sam Reid presented well but was unable to make the most of his chances.
Craig Bird was an early live wire kicking 2 goals, whilst, Ted and Reg had a fairly easy job of marking everything that came there way.
Swans by 63.

Brownlow Medal: 3. J Kennedy (Syd), 2. N Fyfe (Fre), 1. L Jetta (Syd)

Seaby was a late replacement for Mumford, up against the mountain Sandilands. Sandilands dominated the ruck contests, but it was the swans who took the early lead.
Up by 45 points early in the 3rd term before the Dockers hit back hard. 6 unanswered goals to get back to 9 points before Goodes got the steadier late in the qtr. The last qtr was an even affair, and the dockers threw everything at the swans, but the swans survived the onslaught.
Reid and Jetta kicked 3 goals each. 36 posessions in a dominant display by Kennedy.
Swans by 13.
