    Round 2 vs GC

Some are saying that the gold coast have arrived, but I dont think so. Last week Saint Kilda outplayed them enough to win, however the queensland humidity got to them, allowing the more aclimatised golad coast to run out the game and win. Gold coast have improved, but the win last week was as much a factor of climate than anything else.

In saying that, Gold coast could win quite a few home games this year.

But as far as this weeks game, I think they will put up as much resistance as GWS did. The AFL have really gifted us an awesome draw this year to overcome our late start to pre-season.

I'd like to see Morton and Bird included this week for match fitness, then our best 22 chosen for round 3.

Looking forward to this game. The new scoreboard/screen will be working for the first time, according to the SCG. Current capacity is 36,000, not that Gold Coast will attract many to the game.

The Gold Coast may not but the flag will, I know a few occasional gamers who are making a point to be there for the unfurling.

Yep - check out the live webcam here - http://www.scgdevelopment.com.au/live-webcam/

Looks like the screen is up, as are some concourse seats, plus a temporary stand.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Loving the look of the new big telly..... Also it'll be good having a few fans at least in the Northern section. I might have to get there early on Saturday to check everything out, including the Ressies....

And some of us are coming up from Melbourne to watch that beautiful Premiership flag unfurled!

I just clicked on it as you suggested and there is nobody there. It's all dark.

I have to say that Goodsie is my No 1 player and I would pick him first every time, even on one leg, but if he is not right for Saturday we have no worries. I say that because of the Mummy and to a lesser extent Mike Pyke. They played really well up forward on Saturday - it was great to see Mummy somewhat back to his old self. The only problem was that he and Sam were flying for the same ball a lot of the time and Mummy was outmarking Sam as well as the opposition. That was probably happening because the ball was being bombed in to the same spot ALL the time. I can never work out whether the up field players do that because no one is leading, or no one is leading because it is a waste of time and energy, their leads are ignored. I suspect it is the latter!

My assumption is that the three of them (Pyke, Mummy and Reid) all up front at (almost) the same time is new and two of those guys are relatively inexperienced. It will take some time for them to gel and keep out of each other's way. Once that happens there will be less bombing to a pack because there will be fewer packs! Imagine a back line which has to cover those three and still have someone who can cover Goodes, Bolton, Jack or Kennedy when they come forward! Lets get Roberts-Thompson in the ruck and let the big men fly up front (only half-joking...)

Yeah, I'd like to see either Morton or Everitt get a game up forward in Goodsies place....

Everitt played well last week and Morton needs a run with the firsts...Let's see where they're at.
