Things you do on a slow day - Just thinking that the first five rounds have in my mind divided the comp in two.
There are six teams - GWS, GCS, WB, Melb, Bris, StK who can't make the eight and should be pencilled in as certain wins by any aspiring top 8 team. Still a long way to go but I can't see any of these six beating anyone other than fellow cellar dwellars.
So the remaining 12 aspirants finishing position can be aided by playing these six teams more than their final eight rivals. A quick look through the draw shows
Teams who play the bottom six
8 times - Richmond, Fremantle, Port & Swans
7 times - Adelaide, Essendon, WCE, Carlton, Geelong, North Melb
6 times - Hawthorn, Collingwood
A soft start to the year sees us playing four of these teams in the first six rounds, we only have four more in the next 16 rounds. So we have an advantage over most of our likely rivals in the race for a high finishing ladder position. Just need to make use of it now :-)
