The smoker (me, I appreciate that) has apparently signed on for four years, according to our Pres on twitter.

Good move by the Swans. He has become an integral, dependable, defender, who can play on talls and smalls.
If he can improve his accuracy, with his fantastic penetrating left foot, he'll become an 'A grader'.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Are there still people out there ... especially footballers ... who are silly enough to smoke? No wonder this bloke has lost much of his early pristine "wow" factor ... these days I cringe a little when he gets near the ball and when he kicks it ... you know ... sort of like Reg & Rhyce.Comment

He's been pretty underwhelming this season to be honest. I hope that Horse gives him a right bollicking this week.
Provided he isn't being paid overs I guess it is good news.
As for an AFL player being a smoker in this day and age I am simply speechless....Comment

Rampe is not the only Swan to smoke. I have seen and know of at least two others.Comment

He started off the year okay, just in a poor patch at the moment. He's a gun and integral to our side, Can't Believe how quick some are to knock him!Comment

Rampe has been giving away frees at double the rate compared to last year, and they have been costly ones leading directly to goals. He's been unlucky a few times, like the Selwood tackle where he couldn't tell if Selwood had the ball and he just continued on with the tackle. It's hard NOT to tackle a player like Selwood when he's only a few meters out from goal. But there have been a few minor but costly brain fades as well.
The whole defence has suffered this year with the loss of Malceski, who so often would rescue us from a dangerous situation. Rampe appears most affected by the loss of Mal, as he's been the one trying to pick up the slack. Mal developed a great understanding of the flow of the game the last couple of years and it's unreasonable to expect Rampe to pick up where Mal left off. The steady improvement of Laidler may be a help. It's taken Macca, Jetta and Lloyd to help relieve the pressure on our backline, but we clearly don't have this worked out yet. So still hoping Rampe's dropoff this season is only temporary.
I would think if they put a million dollar - 4 year contract in front of him, he would sign. If that's around the mark, it's a good deal for both parties.Comment
