Can we seriously risk this bloke to not cost us a GF with a kick across the face of goal.

Plus he is way too one sided for my liking.

Took a couple of decent grabs.

Would have loved to have seen the vibe between him and Horse as he entered the sheds at HT

Besides a couple of wayward kicks, although the intercept wasn't actually wayward, it was about to hit McVeigh on the chest, he was actually very good tonight.

I think the "vibe" would have been like this...

... and not focus on one error amongst a night of great kicks.

As long as he promises not to cross the goals with gentle floaters to a stationary target anymore, he can continue on. But seriously someone needs to strap him into a chair with a montage of all those blunders playing on perpetual loop, Clockwork Orange style.

Love reading this love for Rampe: 'Defend to the death': Sydney Swans' desperation inspiring deep finals run

"Mathews: "I would say the leader of our backline, Dane Rampe, really epitomises that defend to the death and fight to the death mentality. He's almost the champion of it. That's probably why some of these other guys are producing those efforts, because Ramps does it week in, week out, quarter in, quarter out. In that moment he was able to save a goal, which is absolutely incredible, but it's certainly not anything new for his teammates. And he just takes unbelievable pride in never letting them down".

That's among the reasons why Rampe's my favourite player (with Errol the heir apparent to the title), noting that Rampe's best appears to be behind him despite his good recent form.

Even with that bit of Fox heroism, Rampe was in it up to his eyeballs: Rampe was the first player back and covered Spargo and momentarily 'stood' Spargo's mark. Then Rampe made a spirited second effort and arrived to tackle Melksham simultaneously with Fox who effected the smother. Then Rampe makes a third effort and arrives after Fox to attempt simultaneously with Fox the smother of Spargo's next kick for goal. Then Rampe recovered quickest of any of them and picked the smothered ball off the deck and cleared it to McDonald with a handball who booted it outside D50. Brilliant, brilliant effort by Fox - but Rampe was defending every bit as desperately and as well but just a bit less noticeably.

Does anyone know if he is still a social smoker? Makes his heroics even more special.

                P.S: He's been a total freakin gun.

100%. Fox is getting all the credit which is deserved but there are several other players who ran their guts out in that play. Errol was closing, Lizard sprinted the entire way, McDonald was actually a few metres behind Brayshaw but kept going to ensure that he wasn't loose. Fantastic.

This was the highlight for me and validated everything I love about our team. A tall struggling to find a place in a forward line with a legend but right there on the very last line in the last few minutes supporting his mates and doing his job. Great.

My favourite player hands down. I hope we win the flag this year for his sake as much as anything. He doesn’t have the mania of the Leo Barry but he’s a cool customer that never gives in and can torch teams in the other direction even though he takes players several divisions out of his weight class

I love him, for all the reasons you articulated. Plus I give huge brownie points to blokes who played at their best in our few down years, and he was as good as any. I keep going back to the game he played against GWS in 2020, when he had the broken hand, took the one handed mark against Cameron with his dud hand, and was just everywhere. In a team full of youngsters learning what’s required, what a guy to watch.

I reckon DR’s ‘line in the sand’ attitude since Bombers game was the key reason we turned this season on its head. Copped a lot of flak for being out of form earlier, but still one of my favourites.

'I love Rampe, how he plays and how much the club means to him. You can see that leadership flow through, and the leaders pass on that culture, which has really held the club in good stead,' Cresswell says.
