Changes for Rnd 9 V Hawks

    Ins. McGlynn, Kennedy.
    Outs. Towers, Hiscox.

and if Rohan is ready then Hewett makes way. I like Georgie but he needs to play more than 1 quarter each week.

I'm just returning from Melbourne having been to the game. Gutted to loose that way but we didn't deserve to win. We played about 2 quarters of good footy at best. More like 1 and a half quarters.

I'll revise my outs when I watch the game again on tv ( as painful as that will be ). But for the moment I agree with aadvark above.

I would be very hesitant to play towers again. I think rose has to be given a chance next time we need to consider a player to cover for a mid / forward.

If mcglynn isn't right then BJ should play.

Ins. Harrison Marsh (Upgrade), McGlynn, Kennedy

      Outs. Ted Richards, Towers, Hiscox

      Rational:

      - The Hawks are playing one key forward (the resting rucks) and a host of medium and small forwards. Grundy takes the resting ruck while Rampe gets Gunston. Marsh gives more pace than Richards and that could useful against the fast leading Hawks who are fed by elite kicking skills. Richards last quarter was disappointing.

      - McGlynn to Sam Mitchell as he has always done.

      - I think if the Hawks don't have Hodge then we are a chance.

I got the impression Teddy was a little hesitant because of his injury. He'll be better for the run.

I agree with both the changes and analysis.

I would even consider Rose in lieu of McGlynn, or if Kennedy doesn't come up.

Surely Rohan has to get a kick in the NEAFL before being considered? Yes he can play, yes he's had injuries but the reality is that he's delivered nothing.

              I agree with Aadvark's changes.

I also agree about Hewett - I like the Kid a lot, but we need to find a way to get him and Papley more involved in the game, they are both quite peripheral figures at this stage - they have plenty to give, but need to find more of the footy.

Has there been any official word on whether Kennedy will be ok for this week? They initially said minor hamstring but who knows how bad it really is!

Yeah, well I don't know about dropping Towers. Apparently he's given a firm commitment to harden up before next week.

                        Hewitt isn't going anywhere.

Towers and hiscox out as above

Towers and Hiscox certainly cannot be rewarded with their insipid performances last night and I think at least one of these players will be gone by the end of the year.

McGlynn and JPK ins for sure. Papley needs to take his chances and Hewett also needs to get more involved and play more than a quarter a week.

Suddenly we really need Gary Rohan and Sam Reid because I don't think we can win a flag with either Papley or Hewett in the 22

I thought Dean was pretty good overall. He failed to ice the clock, but I don't think it was really a conscious decision not to give it to Buddy- I think he just wasn't composed enough to look around and didn't see him (and I'd go as far as to say I understand that from a guy who is in and out of the team to be nervous as all hell).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
