Saw this great player in his first season ... the "chimp" build notwithstanding ... he was what kept South Supporters fronting up in so many poor years ... deserved so much more than one finals game ... one of the joys of our Sydney success has been his enjoyment of it.

Well done Chimp. Very deserving for a true gentleman and a loyal Swan.

I'm so chuffed for Bobby. He epitomises our club in every facet and will be forever enshrined as the ultimate Swan royalty.

                  Onya Bobby.
Hopefully I'll snag a ticket to the BnF so that I can curtesy to him.
                  He'll love that.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I just had a look at a Swans TV segment on the club's website re: "Skilton".

There's a film clip of Skilts snapping a goal; then
a magazine with Skilts on the front cover; and then
                    a picture of Paul Kelly.

Pathetic - mixing up these 2 great players.

(I don't usually visit the club's website - gave up a couple of years ago - poor injury reporting, incorrect player stats, etc.)

I've been told by a friend that the AFL has dictated that the unveiling of Bobby's statue is to be a private affair. I've looked on the Swans and AFL websites and found nothing to confirm this.
Anyone got any information about this? As a Melbourne Swan, I had my heart set on going!

Congrats Chimp! Only ever saw him in his last year as a very young fella - wish I'd seen him earlier.

My Father told me Skilton was once knocked out in the 1st or 2nd quarter - got stitched up and came back on and kicked 8 goals after half time.

Might have been this game: AFL Tables - South Melbourne v Geelong - Sat, 11-Jul-1959 2:20 PM - Match Stats

Would love to go the the statue unveiling - I will keep an eye out for details.
