Is Longmire cooked?

I don’t think you can blame Stevie J for the fact Buddy’s been playing hurt all year. Or I suspect his kicking action / accuracy which seems to be declining with his fitness.
I want to blame someone for bombing it into our forward line and not trying to hit up a leading player. Why does any team, particularly one playing an 18yo and a guy not known for his marking, do that?
Is the hope it will bring our crumbers in to play? Not if the other side marks it.Comment

I know youse all hate Robbo on here. He had this to say about us. The last sentence is an interesting one. Category: | Herald Sun
Sydney has lost its mojo and the finger is being pointed at coach John Longmire, led by Herald Sun columnist Dermott Brereton.
The Swans are in a trough and maybe they can work themselves out of it, but the trends are disturbing.
Over the past four matches - from which they have won one (North Melbourne) and lost three (Geelong, Gold Coast, Essendon) - the Swans are 16th for inside 50m differential, 17th for time in forward half differential, 13th for points scored, 15th for points scored from turnovers and 15th for scores per inside 50m.
In other words, they don’t get inside enough, can’t keep it inside 50m, don’t score enough when it’s inside and cough up the ball too much which leads to opposition scoring.
If it wasn’t the Swans, you’d think this team was a complete rabble.Comment

That was a cut and paste of the article from behind the paywall. But the last sentence is: "If it wasn’t the Swans, you’d think this team was a complete rabble."Comment

Not one mention of injuries or the huge number of young players on our team. Lazy, shallow tabloid journalism. Brereton as bad.Comment

Just comparing the Rnd 19 teams from same time last year.
List 1 = Players who played Round 19 LAST year, but missing Rnd 19 this year and their # games as at Rnd 19, 2017
List 2 = Players who played Round 19 THIS year, but not Rnd 19 last year and their # games as at Rnd 19, 2018
551 games experince difference.Comment

In theory, in a reputable publication, journalists cannot run stories unless they have sources, and if the sources are anonymous multiple sources. So if the Age journos were talking about this publicly (although they've never gone to print with it) that would imply it's come from sources and more than one at that."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

The 'fake news' trend doesn't just exist in the political sphere, its been alive in the sporting arena for as long as sports have been played.
For every story with some sort of valid 'source', there are just as many stories with no 'sauce' to go with them. Some papers/media outlets may be more reputable than others, but like those paid to comment on the game, there are plenty who have no idea what they are on about, and simply will spill whatever vomit comes into their mouth/fits their agenda, no matter whether there is any resemblance of truth involved.
Its naive to think that truth in journalism is held at anything near the standard it might have been 50 years ago."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

When a team is losing, the media try and come up with a story.
It happened in 2014 when we were struggling at the start of the year and they said that the recruitment of Buddy affected our culture.
Last year when we were 0-6 and now this year with our form slump, they have brought up Longmire being passed it and player discontent.Comment
