Swans chat Vale Old Roy Boy

I just heard that a longtime poster with lots of knowledge, Ian Chapman or Old Roy Boy passed away this morning. He's been living on the South Coast for the past few years so hasn't been to as many games. It's sad to lose such a venerable member of RWO. Vale Ian - you will be missed.

Sad news. I seem to remember Old Roy Boys posts.....always sensible and measured I believe. That will be missed as well.

Terrible news. Was a valuable contributor - will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear that, I remember ORB posting about having had some health issues and footy helping him through it (or at least offering something that was different from spending time with doctors). I enjoyed his posts and interacting with him here, he struck me as someone who enjoyed the game itself, and had those "this dude gets it" kind of observations that backed up my view of him.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Very sad to hear that. Always enjoyed his contributions on here - and seemed a good guy!

RIP Ian - we will miss you!

I’m sorry to read that. He was a valuable contributor to this board.

Sad news. I reckon I replied to one of his posts on the Brunswick Road Oval a week or two ago.

                  Very sad news.

For the record, Ian joined RWO on 10 March 2004, just 14 months after RWO was created. He remained active for 13 years.

One of the pioneers that have made RWO what it is.

Condolences to Ian's family and friends.

RWO is lessened by his departure. Very sad.
