Match Thread Rd 8 vs Collingwood Magpies @ MCG - Match Thread

Collingwood v Sydney at the MCG, 3.20pm AEST

    NO LATE CHANGES

    SUBSTITUTES
    Collingwood: Jack Ginnivan
    Sydney: Aaron Francis

I'm surprised we are using Francis as the sub (and disappointed). I'm not a fan of using key position players as the sub.

Yes, another perplexing match committee decision. You would think, and most teams do this, you would choose a tactical sub to give some extra run late in the game...

We have made some strange decisions this year so far...

On a cold wet windy day makes it an even dumber decision

Also disappointed. I guess the thinking is that Francis can play as a key forward or back and if we're replacing a mid, Florent can move into the midfield, with Fox or Blakey playing on a smaller opponent, as suits.

Seems a very strange decision re: the sub.

Wet and a bit blustery at the G, but field looks good.

Have very low expectations for today's game, but just hope we give it a red hot go. Need something to spark our season.

It’s going to be a slugfest, there’s no logic behind it whatsoever

You're up and running before the ball has been bounced

Probably better to see how it unfolds

Stevic and Foot umpiring...we are screwed!

I'm also confused about Francis being the sub.

Yes. I see this is the thinking too. He's slightly more mobile than McLean so that's the only way I see us getting quicker when using the sub.

Oh man… we‘ll more than likely be flogged, but this seals the deal.

I am sort of relieved in a way preparing to watch a match where I have no real expectations of winning.

It certainly is a lot less stressful and will hopefully make me less frustrated (and less inclined to post enraging comments! Lol)

Haven't had that feeling in a while but have finally resigned myself that this is probably going to be a bit of a down year, mostly due to our injuries and lack of any real depth.

In saying that, go Swannies! Hope we belt them!
