AFL Fans Duped by Channel 10

Has anyone else noticed that Channel 10 are not showing Friday night's qualifying Final until 11:15pm in Sydney only 15 minutes before Fox Footy Channel? What a joke, After what I consider one of the better years for coverage (across 9,10 & Fox Footy) the AFL and 10 are letting us down

Don't Fox Footy show the game at 9:30 ish. How can they put an QF back to 11pm?

    Shame.. shame.. shame.

In Sydney, the RL on #9 would easily outrate the final shown on #10. Sad as it is, some movie that has been shown repeatedly would gather better ratings than the QF.

If Channel 10 won't show it until 11 then Fox Footy should be allowed to show the game live.

The current arrangement is a joke and Sydney AFL fans are once again getting screwed.

This sort of blackout is no way to promote the code in NSW.

The behaviour of Channel 10 is contemptuous and disgraceful.

To show an AFL game in prime time on a Friday night in Sydney between two clubs few people know anything about or care about would be commercial suicide.

We have to accept that we are in a very small minority that wants to see this game live.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the AFL for negotiating an agreement that didn't allow for live pay-TV coverage like the last agreement did.

Blaming channel ten is unfair at best.

            Exactly.

People seem to forget that Channel 7 owned both pay and free to air rights last time. Whole different situation (Not to mention the fact that it was only on Optus which most people in Australia couldn't get).

Think the next deal will be a bit more pay tv friendly for the northern states.

Presumably Ten requested the no live Pay TV coverage clause in the first place.

I agree the AFL should not have signed such an agreement but criticism of Ten isn't unwarranted.

                Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your enquiry and your comments.

After pressure from the AFL, TEN have agreed to allow FOX Footy Channel
to show the Friday night Qualifying Final between Brisbane and St Kilda
                at 8:30pm EST.

                Kind regards,

and VERY well done to Ch 10 for allowing this as they have the most to lose by diluting their audience at 11pm!!

Hmmmm I'd say the potential to allow Fox to hurt 9 more than they hurt themselves would have been a signficant consideration.

Very impressed they did this - God knows why they couldn't just go the whole hog and make it live??

Probably because of White Line Fever perhaps?

                            Anyway good result.
