Since the AFL finals series changed in 2000, 9 of the 10 losing qualifying finalists have bounced back the following week to win their semi-finals and qualify for the preliminary final - ie only one team finishing top 4 has gone out of the finals in 'straight sets'.

Good stat. And the exception was Port in only their second finals series appearance. So the odds were that St Kilda would bounce back (and Geelong too).Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
