    Sheedy Selling AFL to Sydney

ABC Sport reports that Essendon coach, Kevin Sheedy, is still committed to promoting the AFL in Sydney.

Sheedy says practice games could be played anywhere but it's important to "sell" the game in Australia's largest city.

"If you got Sydney right, our game's going to really go through the ceiling and if it takes another five years, another 10 years, another two years, it doesn't matter, this city in the end can really get to love AFL as well as rugby league, rugby union and cricket and so forth," he said. "That's what we're here for."

"It'll be a great game from Essendon's point of view but we know we're in Sydney and it will be Sydney's day, but we want to give something to Sydney to let people come along and let them know that a club with tradition can still be alive in 2000 and beyond."

Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos says the game is a great chance for the team's younger players to test themselves against one of the best teams in the AFL. Roos expects Essendon to play close to a full strength team, while some of the Swan's best will be missing because of injury.
