    Comebacks for Demons Match

Nick Davis must pass a fitness test at training today (Friday) before getting the all clear to play against Melbourne in Canberra tomorrow. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Davis is keen to get in some match time.

"I've run enough laps, I was getting a bit dizzy for a while there," he said. "I'm a little bit rusty. It's been hard not being able to train. But now I'm back in training I'm just starting to get used to the game plan and I'm really looking forward to the practice match."

"I'm looking forward to getting used to the game again and getting my touch back," he said.

Coach Paul Roos hopes to use both Davis and Jason Ball for a half of football against the Demons.

"We'll have to see how they pull up after training this morning," he said. "Both of them have done everything right so far in the last three weeks. It's a long season and we will not take any risks if they are not 100 per cent right."

Adam Goodes, Stuart Maxfield and Daryn Cresswell will also take part in the match at Manuka Oval.

"Now we are really hopeful of getting our better team together, and really getting ready for the start of the season," Roos said. "It's important they start playing together ... hopefully we'll field near our best team in the following practice match at the SCG."

Roos also plans to be a "bit careful" with midfielder Jared Crouch. Jason Saddington, who rolled his ankle during training on Wednesday, will probably not play a full match. Roos said the injury was "nothing severe", but it may be a "bit hard to get Saddo up for Saturday".

Doubt still surrounds full-forward Barry Hall, who suffered a hip injury in last week's practice match against Carlton at Coffs Harbour, and Michael O'Loughlin (knee) and Stephen Doyle (calf) are still recovering from injury and will not play this weekend. Leo Barry and Brad Seymour are also yet to be scheduled for a return to senior football.
