The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Swans' ruckman Stephen Doyle may be out of the game for up to four months. A scan revealed Doyle had a fracture to his right knee.
"A big piece of joint surface with a bit of bone has broken off," the Swans' doctor said. "The arthroscope will clean out loose pieces and broken bits. It often takes two to three months for that to heal. It's probably three to four months recovery period all up. He's upset."
Veteran Daryn Cresswell has re-strained his calf muscle and may be out for another two to three weeks, but Sydney may regain full-back Andrew Schauble and Daniel McPherson this weekend. Schauble (quad) and utility McPherson (hamstring) both missed Sydney's win over Carlton last Saturday, but they participated fully in training yesterday, unlike forward Michael O'Loughlin.
O'Loughlin missed Sydney's entire pre-season schedule with knee tendonitis. He ran before yesterday's training session but didn't participate in the remainder of training and is unlikely to play this weekend.
Youngsters Luke Ablett and Mark Powell will be considered for this weekend, but Brad Seymour and Ben Fixter are doubtful before round three.
Justin Longmuir will return for Fremantle against Sydney on Saturday night. The tall 22-year-old has fully recovered from a knee injury suffered in an intra-club match at Bunbury in February.
The Dockers will again be without Trent Croad (suspension), Luke McPharlin (hamstring strain), and probably Clive Waterhouse and Shane Parker, while Jeff Farmer (corked thigh) will be tested.
