West Coast players would do alright in particular. That club has more money than god does.

I would suggest Eddie won't be saying that again anytime soon Liz, given the recent revelations on 3rd party agreements. Jon Brown to Channel 9; now that would be jumped on quickly by other media outlets as rorting the system, and it would be rorting the system.

    Greg Swann sounds off:
"We are staggered that the premiers can add an $800,000-per-season player (in Tippett) to their list without shedding anyone," Blues chief executive Greg Swann told the Herald Sun.....

"If you win a premiership you are supposed to be under pressure to retain players, not bring in the highest-priced recruit there was last year. They will say they were being clever with the way they used their cap but, whichever way you cut it, to do what they have done puts into question the fairness of the system."
The allowance is 9.8%. According to ABS figures, which the AFL uses as the basis for its calculation, the cost of living in Sydney is 15% above Melbourne (and at least that above Gold Coast and Adelaide).

So if you're a gold-digging player choosing the Swans instead of the Gold Coast solely because of the 10% extra, you really are pretty thick.

Well of course a Carlton president would struggle to understand how a club can have a premiership-winning team and be under the cap.

Also he may have missed the 5 or 6 players we traded/delisted and replaced with draftees, and the Bradshaw contract finally ending. But hey, no-one was shed.

Fancy Carlton having a snipe at another clubs salary cap structure.

Carlton are able to retain and attract players purely because a healthy slice of Judas Judd's salary doesn't get included in the salary cap.

    Dear Greg Swann,

I would tell you to shove this inaccurate and jealousy induced rant up your arse but with your head already there I'm not sure how much room there would be.

I hope your tanking, salary cap cheating club remains forever without a flag in the 21st century.

Yours faithfully from the desk of a supporter of the Reigning Premiers.

Eddie is the biggest whinger about inequlities but no club has a bigger imbalance their way than Collingwood who get a dream draw every year.

Carlton wants to talk about our COL concession, what about the pathetic shonky rejigging of Judd's cardboard contract? A heap of his $ in LAST YEARS salary cap and a heap more in the Injury List concessional payments. FFS could the AFL have bent over and got reamed by Carlton any more than that?
Judd's original cardboad contract was out of line but somehow got the ok from Vladland.

COL should not only be be related to the actual COL in each city but the number of players that have to relocate city to play for you.

Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth clubs are at an advantage because a large proportion of their players don't have to move city or even house to play for them. Sydney, GWS, Brisbane and Gold Coast have the overwhelming majority of their list from outside their city.

Here's the number of home state players on every teams list

    Richmond - 29
    NM - 28
    WCE - 28
    WB - 27
    Ess - 26
    Melb - 23
    St.K - 22
    Geel - 22
    Haw - 21
    Carl - 21
    Coll - 20
    Freo - 17
    Port - 17
    Adel - 16
    GCS - 9
    Sydney - 7
    GWS - 6
    Bris - 4

About time the AFL and the power Melbourne clubs had a look at this as it certainly has an effect on attracting and retaining players.
