I'd go for Eagleton over Yze - could be a useful replacement for Willo when he retires. Runs the lines, long kicking, can kick goals. Yze, while he has the foot skills, isn't a running player like Eagleton.

Can't see us getting either though to be honest - would have to give up too much.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I think 72 years of failure have left us cowed. There's not another group of supporters in the competition that would be thinking about how to get the team working right next year less than 72 hours before it plays in a Grand Final. We don't need to be cocky but the general lack of enthusiasm on RWO for this weekend is palpable. And I thought all my points had some validity (well, maybe not Goodes) - they have certainly been raised during the year.

As several ex players have said, this chance doesn't come around often so we and the players should luxuriate in it, not ignore it. Only since the Baz issue was concluded have I let my enthusiasm build. But as I set off for Melbourne in a couple of hours, I have to think what to pack for the Swan's Grand Final game on Saturday - and for the Grand Final Parade tomorrow.

Right now I couldn't care less if some player for Melbourne is unsatisfied with his club. I'm pretty satisfied with mine.

That some people want to discuss potential trades is hardly a big deal. It's not like supporters need to concentrate on preparing for Saturday like players do.

Some people also want to consider other things so they don't over-focus on the game too early. That doesn't mean that people aren't still focussing on the game with the majority of their thoughts.

None of this precludes people being very excited and enthusiastic.

It also doesn't stop people being a bit cautious either.

i would hope the recruiting staff dont ignore poetential improvements to the list because we are in a grand final.

I cant see how posting on a trades means im not enthusiastic about the grand final.

It also helps take ur mind off it and something to chat to other swans about and stuff.
Theres not much left to say

On that we agree, it's only been in the past 24 hours that I've started to let myself think that we have a chance of winning. It worked against the Saints last week.

There was another article in the Tele today about Yze naming Sydney as a destination.

Would love to get him here.

"Adam Yze, terrific player - terrible scrabble hand"

then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Yze is exactly and precisely the last person in the competition we should be recruiting.

'Medium sized forwards' is about the player type where we actually have a talent surplass (O'Loughlin, Davis, O'Keefe).

                  Our wants are:
Defensive KPP > Ruckman > Classy outside midfielder

I would suggest that the swans take a punt on Woewoddin (spelling?). If we can get him in hte draft, and he doesnt want much money, he could be quite useful for us, as he has a good delivery on him. We dont need in and under midfielders right now, we have plenty of them.
As for Yze, why? We have the best forward line in the comp.

Until last year, Yze was a midfielder and an outside one, not an in-and-under one. He could provide another option of a player who can rotate between the forward line and the midfield.

                        Malceski > Woewoeful.

All he will do is clog a space up for someone as promising as Malceski or McVeigh.

True Jeffers, but i also think Williams will be announcing his retirement on Saturday, so an experienced midfielder to come in as his replacement (and another one from collywobbles as well) woudl seem a smart option.
Dont know if Yze is up to being a midfielder these days though.

Yeah, I can't understand half the stuff in this thread.

Yze is a very classy midfielder, and one of the most accurate long kicks in the game.

He's been curbed by injury this year (and filling in in the forward line), but when he's fit and firing in the midfield, he's genuine Brownlow medal class.

I've got no doubt that his agent is just kite-flying at present to get him a contract . . . but if he really did come on the market, half the clubs in the AFL would be in the queue.

Charlie's right that he would be very expensive . . . but he is a genuine matchwinner. I'd take him.

I must be watching a different player. So must Melbourne fans. His best is very, very good. But we're seeing it less and less.

If we are going to spend a lot in trade and dollar terms, I'd much rather we go a little bit further and put $500k in front of Cameron Bruce. He's a Brownlow Medallist in waiting. Has he signed yet?

I'd be more than happy to get Bruce.

But if we didn't then Yze wouldn't be bad.

This year he kicked 41 goals and averaged 14 disposals per game.

Last year he kicked 19 goals and averaged 22 disposals per game.

How many in our side do that?
