    Nick Davis

Had this to say in chat last night...

    "
Missed: Nick do you think you have the fitness to play midfield if not when?
Nick Davis: it was good to get into the midfield a bit on Saturday night, the coaches are pretty keen to get me in there. I'm doing a bit of extra training on the side to get my fitness up, and from now on I?ll probably play a bit more time in there every week

    "

Davis the midfielder? With a bit of fitness, I definetely think he can add someone to our midfield!

Cant see him being a permanent midfielder. More of a forward who rotates through the middle. He's too good a kick to be wasted outside 60m from goal.

I think it would be useful to give him a run on the ball occasionally - yes his kicking is great, so you wouldn't want him spending all his time away from the forward 50, but at the same time, his kicking is a great asset to use coming from half-back/centre into the forward 50 too.

Let's use this to our advantage and not restrict him to playing up forward. If he's fit enough, he's good enough.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Playing in the midfield hopefully will give Davis a sense of accountability in his game. Probably the same trick that Roos is doing (quite successfully) with Kennelly at the moment.

Hope Davis could follow Kennelly in this path.

I think Nick would be better in the 50 as well. Lovely kick at goal.

I was at the game on Saturday night and when he went on the ball, he looked a touch too slow, particularly in defence. Fine when he's got it but looked sluggish on the chase.

I know he can get his fitness up but not sure he can get his pace up this year.

Good comments Barry. I think your spot on.

No contest, Nick Davis is required in the forward area, has the makings of a great player who if he can only concentrate for the 4 quarters will stand among the greats. That goal of his on the weekend was pure magic.

I know for a fact that Nick Davis was/is on the interchange bench for a reason. Nothing to do with match fitness but more to do with attitude. We all know he can kick but it's all about him 'wanting' to be there not 'having' to be. Playing midfield last week made him try harder which is what Roos is after.

Not really sure about changing Nicks role in our forward line at the moment.
Once Hall comes good, it's gonna destroy a lot of teams.
Now if Nick wants to play there and is suited to that role, then proceed with caution, as it appears the Swans are at teh moment, but I hope the move isn't made because of the losses we've had there and the losses to come...
