    Re: Malthouse on Ball

malthouse can occasionally be quite generous of spirit.

ball is a gun. i really wish he felt able to play on next year, but having read that article last weekend in the australian magazine (or was it the good weekend) about stephen febey and others i'm very glad he's getting out while he feels good.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Good for us. Ball has a great height advantage, and has a bit too much pace I think. Swans 1 - WCE 0 (but I never knew he was capt'n/coach, and I thought he moved east )

I always listen when Malthouse talks football or footballers. I feel sorry for him in his present situation.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

he does have a lot of insight most of the time however i lost a lot of respect for him after the 2003 grand final. he played jason cloke at CHF after playing him as loose man in defence all year and then threw it back in his face by publicly stating that he thought cloke had had a better grand final in 2002 (when he was suspended).

i thought it was a terrible humiliation of a young player who had been asked too much of.
