    West Coast team

    In Matera and Butler

    Out Braun and R.Jones.

It means that Brett Jones won't play either unless he comes in as an emergency. They have also brought over Lynch, Adkins and Green. Anyone who hits someone in the GF will find he receives double the penalty.

It also seems that Silvie and Delta may sing the anthem as a duet.

If matera plays and goes down early then they are down to 21 players. I doubt he will play.

Heard a bloke from WCE mention Green on SEN as playing well in the WAFL, and surprisingly he is named as an emergency. Could he be the surprise inclusion?

the non inclusion of bjones is good for us as he was likely to play on ROK, i cant think of anyone to play on him - maybe gaspar or nicoski

i hope matera plays as he aint 100% and could spend most of the game on the pine

if they were to pick an emergency i'd say they'd go with adkins, he can be pretty dangerous when he wants too, he's quick and doesnt mind a goal

Excellent. Here's hoping that Matera lasts five minutes.

Gaspar is named at CHB. Schneider could have a run in the bp.

It's the 'crunch' bit that is important, Nico.

My aim would be for Matera to watch most of the game from the interchange bench.

I hope Matera plays - his form anywhere east of Subiaco and in finals isn't that flash. Can't believe Worsfold would be that dumb.

Brad Hardie wouldn't have a clue, listen to him on 6pr and hes always saying stuff like that and most of the time hes wrong according to Sumich (coaching staff) If matera can run he will play.

true observations, buif he's fit, you've gotta play your highest scorer.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

If I was the WCE (now there's a horrible thought) I'd have to roll the dice and play him if he looked fit.

Their relative lack of forward guns is made pretty clear by the TAB Sportsbet odds on most goals in the GF. After Matera ($7.50) is another player who gets most of his goals opportunistically (Sampi at $9.00). Their first marking forward is Gardiner at $11.00, and he's a specialist ruckman by birth who's been sent forward because of a lack of alternative options. 16 goals in 11 games this year is handy, but it's not a return to strike fear in the hearts of the opposition. Chris Judd sits on $13.00 and Ben Cousins on $15.00, further underlining how much they rely on their midfielders to kick a winning score.

By way of contrast, we have BBBH at $5.00, MO'L at $5.50, Nick Davis at $9.00 (pretty good value for mine) at ROK at $10.00.

But from a Sydney perspective, I'd be glad to see Matera play. Short version: a proven finals failure.
