    SMH article

Sydney likes [Hall] because, unlike Melbourne, the city has always had a soft spot for hard men.
Quite an entertaining little article in the SMH today for those needing constant distraction.

As you search for the magic ingredient to this surprising Swans team, the man who put the pieces together, recruiting manager Rick Barham, provides the first clue: "You won't find a d**head on our list."

Do they run potential draftees through a test do determine whether they have that quality?

        Apparently so -

But "no d***heads" is also recruiting policy. Many times, says Barham, potential recruits with superior skill have been overlooked in the draft because they have not had the right character.

"I won't name the names, but we've been laughed at sometimes for overlooking kids because they didn't have the qualities we wanted," Barham says. "A few years later, the same blokes are making headlines for the wrong sort of things. They're underperforming or getting traded. Sometimes they are even getting offered to us.

Interesting that Nick Davis did not fall under the no ********heads policy. Not to suggest he is a ********head but there has been a lot written about his attitude being pretty terrible when he arrived.

and by the way, pretty funny that the swear word filter blocks out ********head, when it is published in the paper. Too bad if you are a red&whiteonline poster with the name ******** (Richard).

He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.
