    Grand Final Positives

Some of you may have seen my post in the negatives thread saying that I was exhausted and not feeling as pumped as after the prelim.

well, I've just watched the grannie again and here's what I think:

If we had been able to put set shots through (I'm looking at you Micky O), the margin would have been more representative of our better forward work, maybe 5 goals.

Shutting down Judd after quarter time, just about everytime he got the ball from a ruck contest, he was hammered. Kudos to crouch, j bolton and kirk (the new kelly). When he was sent forward, he had little impact.

Good game by goodes. Great running, clean hands, what a star.

Good game by kennelly (the new roos) in defence and running off half back (and loved the jig). What odds can I get for him for the brownlow next year?

Unfortunately, not a great game by NOG, culminating in that turnover which put us ten points down. But to come back from that with goals to hall from long range and to buchanan in a carbon copy of nick davis' sealer against geelong, courage and heart. To then control the game and stop them from scoring, courage and heart. I'm proud of the boys.

On a personal note, I know Drew Banfield and his wife very well, great people. If we can't win it again next year, I hope the eagles do and drew is in the team to go out a winner like ball did.

Finally, to quote Mr. Quartermaine, "good mark by cox, cox throws it onto the left, one last roll of the dice for the eagles, LEO BARRY YOU STAR! The longest premiership drought in football history is over". I've seen that bit of footage about 20 times now, brings a tear to the eye.

I'm not exhausted anymore, I'm over the moon, woooooooohooooooooo
Looking out for good omens which can bring the Swans the 2007 premiership

could there have possibly been a better grand final for recruitment of new fans in sydney? that we won is a huge factor, but that it was one of the great grand finals and we won it is close to inestimable in worth.

without any implication that there is anything wrong with our game, today's match had absolutely no mark of aerial ping-pong that rugby/league followers might scorn. truly hard, agressive, tough football. today, we won a lot of new friends. this match will be a watershed for the game and a reference point for the heights that the game will reach for years to come.

btw. is anyone else still coming to terms with the fact that we got INTO the grand final?
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

72 years and the Bloods have another premiership!!!

Here is a question for all... if micky hadnt kicked all those behinds and NOG hadnt done what seemed unthinkable then the score line may have looked very different, however, would it have been as exciting for all those virgin sydney siders and therefore could this be what makes the game popular with those who may not have had that much time for the game previously?

I couldnt get that much excitement out of a $30 movie ticket!!!!!

I find myself still wondering sometimes if we even won the semi-final against the Cats.

            Positives:
            • We won the Grand Final!
            • The never-say-die attitude of the players.
            • I'll be Captain Obvious here: Leo Barry's mark.
            • Our boys gave the footballing world a classic Grand Final.
