Can't be bothered looking for a link to the story, but Barry Round was quoted in today's Herald-Sun as saying he thought the Swans would have about 3,000 less members next year - he guessed that's how many had told him over the years that they could die once the Swans had won another flag!
3,000 less members in '06?

LOL. Should be interesting though to see how many more sign up next year. I reckon we could push the 35,000 mark.Last edited by BayesysLeftBoot; 25 September 2005, 08:43 PM. -
Judging by the crowd at the SCG today, i think 30,000 plus is reasonable figure to expect.Yabba Dabba Dooooo Swannies!!!Comment

There was a membership scare that people wouldn't be able to become a member because of the rush of others signing up for next year.Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.Comment

Isn't membership in Sydney capped at 26,000 due to ground capacity to allow some walk ups?
If that is the case then I reckon 35,000 to 36,000 as Melbourne should jump to around the 9,000 to 10,000 mark.

Makes perfect sense to have some tickets left over for general public, otherwise how do you ever think we are going to grow the game if interested parties are not able to get in to have a look at us in the flesh?

I heartily agree, Move the majority of games to Telstra (If they can handle having more than 20,000 there of course) and have the 3 games at the SCG.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i knowComment

I totally disagree with a permanent move to Telstra... I'm a Sydney member who attends all home games and to be honest, its a hell of a lot easier to get to Telstra than to the SCG, but seriously...
Although our crowds will grow next year as a result of the premiership (still cant believe i'm saying that!) you'd be hard pushed to get more than 40,000 at every home game... it won't grow that much in just one season... i wish it was, but we have to be realistic.
Not to mention the fact that the SCG has significant meaning to the club and its supporters... 30,000-35,000 at the SCG has a better atmosphere anyday than 45,000 at Telstra... unless that place is packed, its a horribly dead place to be for a game.
Everyone is entitled to theirs, and the argument to move to Telstra has its merits, but thats my 2 cents worth!Comment

But there must be some way of arranging it. Perhaps more numbers of memberships that are for a limited number of games.
Or, similar to the Waratahs memberships, where you pay a nomial fee to be a member, and then purchase your tickets to the games you want to go to.
One of my issues with the large number of reserved seating we have is that even for the biggest games at the SCG, it is so difficult to get over 35,000 coz not all Swans members will turn up to their seats.Visit my eBay store -
