To Paul, Richard and everyone associated with the Sydney Swans,

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the best few hours of my life! I have waited so long to see the day when the Red and White stand proud on the last saturday in september...

I travelled from Tasmania on an aeroplane I will now refer to as a Datsun 180b (Sorry REX) and scalped two ticket at the back of the great southern stand that I bought off ebay for $900. These tickets were right in the heart if 300 die hard eagles fans...
can you imagine the reaction I recieved from those crazy west australians.... But it was worth every second... and every cent!

I love my swans... I love my Bloods....

So Paul, Richard, Bazza, Kirky, Jude... I'll see you same time next year!

    Thanks for a sensational year!

    Cheer Cheer

Congratulations guys for a fantastic effort in winning a richly deserved premiership. I am in awe of the passion with which you play your football and the pride you have in yourselves, your teammates and the jumper.

Saturday was a win for persistence and dogged determination - it just goes to show the character of the group in being able to establish a lead, lose it, then win it back again in the last quarter, against a team as talented as West Coast.

You are indeed a champion team (and no-one can deny it after winning the Grand Final!) - but many of us already realised this after the remarkable spirit and heart you've shown all through this season, to come back from behind against Brisbane and Essendon earlier in the year, and against Geelong and St. Kilda in the finals, we knew that you're a group of players that just doesn't know the meaning of the words 'give in'.

To be associated with the Swans in 2005 is an honour and a thrill, and has given me, along with many other fans I'm sure, a lot of excitement and inspiration.

I'll be eagerly anticipating 2006, which will hopefully bring with it a tilt at back-to-back flags!

Thanks for the memories of an amazing season,

Cheer Cheer the Red and the White!

I cant even put into words what I am feeling at the moment, after having my first junior membership at 10yrs old, I am now 54yrs, so the wait has been huge, but that performance, and every other one of the finals games you played in you showed so much Passion, bravery and just so so much courage, you as a team couldn't ended that 72yr wait any better, and having seen Paul Kelly, Bob Skilton, Barry Round etc enjoying that victory as much as they did made me love you as a team even more, So Thank You Thank You.

Looking forward to relocating back to Melbourne soon, picking up my membership and just being able to go to see the Swans play more often than I can at the moment.

How good are you guys on the board, being able to share all of this with you, knowing all you feel as I do, I am so damn up at the moment and you know what?????????

Thank you for so many things:

              1. Thank you for allowing my nanna to finally witness a premiership.

              2. Thank you for allowing my mum and her three sisters who have loved the Swans ever since they were kids to finally witness a premiership. My mum actually said on the Saturday night that apart from getting married and giving birth to myself and my sister, that it was the best day of her life, which shows how much it meant to her.

              3. Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to see my first premiership at a relatively young age (17 years) compared to other people. Also, thankyou for giving me three days of wonderful enjoyment and memories (not to mention around 200 digital photos!) before I encounter the challenge that is Year 12 exams.

              4. And most importantly, thank you for being the wonderful people and team that you are, a group that will now be forever bonded because of 2005.

              Congratulations boys, you deserve it!!

              With lots of love

Thank you for giving me the most amazing experience as a supporter of the club for over 20 years.

I imagined what watching you win would feel like - THE REALITY IS SO MUCH BETTER!

You have written yourselves into AFL History, not just as premiers, but as an example of all that a club and team should be!

To borrow a cliche...My dream has come true!

Thank you for truely one of the greatest single moments of my life and for fighting tooth and nail to win the 2005 premiership!!

The team right from Richard Colless to the water boy deserves praise for bringing the cup to Sydney.

I wish that moment on Saturday at approximately 5:15pm could freeze forever!

                      Thank you Swannies!!

                          Re: Official Congratulations Thread

Thankyou to the Sydney Swans football club for giving me one of the best weekends of my life, beginning with the grand final parade on Friday and ending on Sunday night when I fell into bed exhausted, so happy and content. I think I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I am in absolute awe of this wonderful TEAM, maybe i am biased, but i don't think I have ever before seen team that is so committed to each other. Thank you to Richard Colless and the board, the sponsors, the medical and fitness team, all the coaches, everyone who has been involved with the success of this team, and most of all the players, you have all been fantastic. Also thanks to Tony Morwood and Rebecca and Lucinda at the Melbourne office who have always been so helpful and pleasant. There really are no words to thank-you adequately enough. I have been supporting the swans since about 1967. On Sunday morning after the reception at Albert Park, a few family members went to the Altona Memorial Park to visit the grave of my uncle Bernie who died in 1983 - a South Melbourne supporter through and through - we decorated his grave with red and white roses, streamers and balloons, and stuck a premiership sticker to the plaque. We then sang an emotional rendition of 'Cheer Cheer' - it was great. There were two other graves in the area decorated with red and white. Thankyou for the wonderful experience and the cheers and tears, it will be etched in my memory forever.

                          Love from Maureen Jenkin

                            The Bloods

Like everyone else on this thread, I want to pass on my sincere thanks and congratulations to the finest group of blokes in history to have played our wonderful game.

My Grandfather, Jack Danckert (R.I.P) played with the Bloods in the 1940's - including the infamous 1945 Bloodbath - and as a kid I remember him teaching me, my brothers and cousins a thing or two about or game in the street where he lived in Parkdale.

For all my adult life, I watched the Mighty Swans in the often exasperating hope that one day we'd win a flag. In 1996, I went to the game with my little brother and thought that whilst we did a pretty good job (that year), North were far the better side. This year, we've looked good from the start. All the ridiculous allegations of "ugly footy" and the like, were a bit of a laugh when they were said - and a bloody scream in retrospect. The team this year (and the two previous) and have looked: committed; skilled; fair; and very much a team.

Last Saturday is a day I'll long remember.

It's funny when you think about how a game that - if you were from another country - looks a bit like 40 or so pretty fit blokes chasing a funny looking ball around a funny shaped field can provide such a strong glue for our society.

If any of the team, coaching or support staff are reading this, I wonder if you can ever really appreciate what you've done for so many people. Me and my family very much included.

                            Thank you.

We finally won a premiership and had the Swans flag flying from the SHB. A sight to gladden a Swans supporter.
