A tribute to the medical room

Roos mentioned them today and I have been wondering for a while about the significance of the contribution made by people such as Nathan Gibbs, Dave Misson and their cohorts.
We were the only team that wasn't thrown out by significant injuries towards the end of the season. This may be sheer luck, but I'm sceptical about coincidences as consistent as that. I suspect we owe a greater debt than realised to those responsible for the conditioning, treatment and post-match care.
To all those people, you've done a fantastic job, and I hope you can celebrate the results with the rest of us, only not as intensely because the rest of us will need your attention...!!!

Very good point. You should visit saintsational.com and see what the saints fans think of their medical team and training staff. Theres gonna be good ol' fashioned lynching down at St Kilda.

Lack of injuries has a lot to do with sheer luck. Not much the medical staff can do about unlucky injuries, particularly bad ones, which occur most games.

We had a great run with injuries this year, most particularly in the important half of the season.

Alas not even these experts of medical treatment could save Doyle, Fixter and James. If all, or any of these guys play on next year I hope they can enjoy injury-free seasons, as well as Maxfield

We had a lot more injuries than people knew. Jude Bolton had a shoulder injury for the last 8 weeks, Schneider has had a fractured cheekbone for 4 weeks, Jolly had a broken finger and someone else (i think Leo Barry) had 3 fractures in their cheekbone. They had injuries but they kept them quiet and played with them. Further testament to the character and courage of this group.

Very true - and yet to some extent you make your own luck.

That makes it even more impressive.

I've no doubt that the medical and conditioning staff have done an outstanding job this year and assisted in the reduction of injuries, most particularly soft tissue ones. We had a lot of trouble with this a few years ago, but in recent years it has been less prevalent for us. No doubt some luck involved, but for these sorts of injuries a lot of credit has to go to the staff.

Now if only Gibbs could fix my bloody calves I will be over the moon!
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

I remember not long ago when RWO's were screaming for the medical team to be sacked, along with Ricky Barham.

Premiership = massive luvfest for all!!
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Try those massive muscles that attach to the back of the femur and tibia and then run down to attach to the foot smarty.
