    Goldspink Appreciation Thread

    Yes, you heard me

    Think about it - umpired our last 3 finals, we won all three;

    called time on for that last stoppage against the Cats to give Nicky D enough time to do his thing;

    along with the other GF umpires, mostly let the game go - we still lost the free kick count, but only 13-12

    and now, apparently says he thought Fosdike was BOG, and would have given him the 3 brownlow votes if it was a H&A game - not falling for all the Judd hype;

    Give the guy a break, we've won the premiership - we can afford it!

    NB. But McInerney can go rot in hell!!!

          Except why was time being called off at every stoppage towards the end of the 4th quarter?

            That was McLaren. I couldn't believe it either. We were screaming at the screen to stop blowing time off.

              before the game i was thinking about the umps. i have never rated goldspink and in fact thought he was an ordinary umpire.
              BUT on the day the umpires were very good. they let the game flow and were barely noticable. i wish they did this all the time.
              goldspink in particular had a very good performance.he was voted all australian umpire today.good luck to him

                As always there were a number of time-keeping mysteries. Watching the replay (which I have done four times now...) when Willo takes the shot from the boundary after Wirra's kick-in went out on the full the clock didn't start ticking until well after he kicked it.

                But anyway, who really cares now?

                    I wished they wouldn't blow time off too, but we benefited from it against Geelong, so they have to be consistent I guess - trouble is, they never seem to be consistent in anything else!

                      For the same reason they did in our game against Geelong.

                        Exactly. That would of caused huge up roar if the umps didn't call time off.

                          Well they were always going to make sure our games went on for the maximum time after the 'hometown timekeeper' incident against Collingwood!

                          And if they'd let the clock run down Leo might not have taken that mark before the siren...

                              Yes , I said he was our "lucky" umpire.
                              I'd like to think he heard me call him a moron at Friday's GF parade and got all intimidated.
                              Doubt it , but I'd still like to think it !
