2005 ladder predictions (aka 'More shameless gloating')

The bigfooty pre-season ladder predictions thread is pretty representative of what non-partisan people were thinking about Sydney at the start of the year. People were asked to specify positions after the finals series.

    The first 30 entries (none of 'em from stated Swans supporters) have us finishing: 7, 10, 10, 7, 7, 5, 13, 7, 5, 9, 8, 6, 7, 6, 6, 6, 7, 9, 5, 4, 8, 5, 5, 7, 8, 10, 10, 6, 9, 9. That's a mean average of between 7th and 8th, and a pitiful one person had us slated to make the top 4 (which realistically you have to make to have any shot at the flag).

As I've already pointed out, people got Adelaide even more wrong (the average finishing position tipped for them was more like 14th).

But geez, when you've got that level of unanimity of opinion, haven't we just dragged the last millilitre of blood(s) out of our list?

if we had lost either jolly or ball for an extended period through injury anywere from the mid to the end of the year those numbers could well have been right. if we don't have two fit ruckman for the most of next year it could be a real possibility also.

remember, we were 3 seconds from 5-6 (after finals) before davis slotted that goal.

to quote blighty - football is a funny game.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know
