    O'Loughlin Farce

If Mick is rubbed out, it will cause an uproar, this has got to stop.

I don't really have an opinion because I didn't see it clearly! Though I'll check out the 9pm replay tonight and post my thoughts then.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I think he will be reported.

Hopefully common sense will prevail in this case, and he will be able to play next week.

However the way the tribunal has been operating, i wouldnt be suprised if he gets a week.

I just watched the replay on Fox.

He could be in some trouble, but in reality the boundary umpire actually ran into him!!!

When Magic kicked the goal, the umpire was a conservative 20 metres away. Magic does his little celebration thingy looking into the crowd and never waivers in a straight course across the goal face.

The boundary umpire can clearly see him, but still elects to run straight into his path so he can be in his customary position to recieve the ball from the crowd.

THE BOUNDARY UMPIRE SHOULD HAVE AVOIDED THE COLLISION, NO DOUBT!!

If they let this bull**** continue they will just sap all the inocance and passion out of the game. What ever happend to a "sorry mate that was a mistake , I didn't mean it "! and get on with the game. If it's deemed to be malicious thats diffrent, but this mandatory reporting is crap. They are really screwing with our beautiful game and I don't think I can forgive them for it.

Mickey was sprinting and tried to stop when he realised he would collide with the ump.

ONE HUNDRED PER CENT the umpire's fault.

He didn't even see the umpire so he couldn't take any steps to avoid him, however I can't believe the umpire didn't see him and thus should of taken steps to avoid Magic. The fact it was only a boundry umpire might help

Has there been an official report on the incident?

As I said in another post, the fact this was unlike any other umpire contact occasion might help. Pretty much all other instances have been when the umpire has been trying to get out of the way after bouncing or the like, and the onus was on the players to make sure he was able to do this as he was going backwards. In this case, the umpire could see exactly where he was going, and the onus should have been on the umpire to avoid the contact.

I guess we will find out how ridiculous this rule is and potentially how stupid the AFL is in the next few days. Lets just hope that Micky is right to play next week, because he really is giving us an extra option up forward and taking the pressure off BBBH.

The maggot didn't seem too happy about it.

Magic's main problem is that his defence is "I was just celebrating and didn't see him", which might be interpreted as negligent.

The AFL really should make it open season on the maggots - maybe then they might actually make an effort to get out of the player's way.

Looked worse on the reply at the game than what I saw at the game...... Will be intersting if there is a report?

Should the ump get a week for running into a player?? Sounds fair
                          - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Whilst I can see him being reported, I don't think it wil be upheld. Totally different circumstances in comparison to recent reports. I imagine it will also be highlighted at the "Summit of Maggots" ie, when are the umpires also negligent?

                              .

The rule has been misused and many players have been wronged by it IMO.

                              An accident is an accident.

This is football, not ping pong.

If the umps can't take an accidental bump they should get out.

It has never even been a real problem.
I mean, how many umpires have been injured?

                              O'Loughlin may go.
I'd say it is a 50/50 call at this time....
