    Paul Roos

Well I always thought that a major part of a coaches job is to instill respect and self belief in to a teams Psyche, through the use of inspiration, nurturing and pressure (for possitions ).
It really does seem that Roosy might well have what it takes. It looks good I think, The rest of this seasone will be very interesting and very telling. Well done so far Paul.

Yep doing a great job. I thought the move of BBBH into the ruck in the 4th quarter was a great move, giving us a physical presence at the stoppages, and Bazza really put in the effort.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

It took a lot of guts to have Williams, Goodes and Kenneally off together in the 3rd quarter, all running players, to save them for the last. Not to mention Cressa having time on the bench in the 3rd. The team held firm under great pressure during this time even though we didn't do much scoring.

Was a masterstroke because all these players played major rolls in the last 10 minute revival.

As a matter of fact I think he may very well have a different strategy/style for each quarter or parts thereof.

Can't help thinking that we have the best young coach in the comp.

Has anyone noticed that everytime we (the esteemed, brilliant supporters who know it all) mention something that needs to be done he seems to do it? I don't meant he is taking notice if us (obviously) but that he is brilliant

For instance we say before a game "He needs to get so and so to think about this" "I hope he is not going to let the players heads drop at three quarter time." "He should nurse this young player through." And over and over this is what he does.

Prior to the game we wanted him to tell the players to get out and play their natural game despite them being the benchmark. That's what he did.

Another example. During the third quarter we were all thinking, "don't go back into your shell, keep running" and that was excactly what he was saying to them.

Roosy believes in the players - not necessarily that they will win all the time, but that the only way to honestly find out how good you are (and, ultimately to find the confidence that you are as good as the next bloke) is to leave players in their best position and tell them to play their heart out. Players who aren't up to it will get found out quicker. Players who are potential champions will find out quicker.

Contrast our position with (especially) Hawthorn. Their coach really hasn't got a clue what to do. On Friday night they were playing a shocker but were only down by 3 or 4 goals at the final change. They came out of their huddle convinced that they has no chance, I reckon. Their best players are costantly moved around to fill gaps in aposition they are not comfortable in. Players get fropped after putting in a fantastic effort (Bateman was stiffed after one of the most stirring second efforts you'll ever see against Carlton) whilst others are terrible week in week out. Players make every move worried about getting dropped, dragged or moved to the forward pocket.

How many times in the last month have people on this board been writing "why doesn't the coach do this?" "Can't the bloody football department see X, Y and frikkin' obvious Z?"

Not many. Other boards are full of frustrated supporters.

We are very, very lucky that we don't have Wallace or Eade or Williams, Connolly, Daniher, Thomas, Thompson or Frawley. Very, very lucky.

        Woosher might be alright, though.

But as Dermot said, the Swans have the first publicly elected coach in the history of the caper
