    Ox Jokes

After David Schwarz's comments that Saturday's game was an "ordinary spectacle" on WLF, I liked the suggestion from one viewer that blonde jokes be renamed "Ox jokes".

    Post your favourites here.

    I'll start - Melbourne's performance in the 2000 GF (Schwarz contribution = 1 point).

I think he didn't do a good job at expressing himself but I tend to agree. As far as the pure football perspective goes, it wasn't a great game - skills were ordinary, not many goals kicked. But the point is that all came about from the intensity, pressure and determination of all 44 players on the day to not give their opponents an inch. That intensity and excitement is what made the game a great one, and that's what you want to see on GF Day - none of this high possession, low risk football but good tough, one-on-one, no quarter asked and none given football and that's what we got.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

In fairness to the OX, he was one of the only (if not the only) media identities to tip Sydney for the flag after we lost to WC in the qualifying final.

It is all personal opinion. Mick Malthouse said it was one of the 5 greatest grand finals of all time..

      IMO It WAS the GREATEST!!

on WLF somone e-mailed that Mick Malthouse got it half right all those years ago when he famously said...."the ox is slow...and the earth is patient". Still don't know what that means...

I thinkit is interesting that those that aren't raving about the game are embittered ex players (ox and billy brownless) and Saints supporters.
        oh well, maybe next time......

i think it was of the ones he has seen.

i think ox was right about the lack of highlights but i disagree that the skill levels were low or that it wasn't a great game.

it was a match where the the skills are of the close in-and-under variety with quick hands, good vision, evasion and tackling. these skills are not as obvious as glorious 50m punts or high-flying marks so unless you look closely, you can easily miss them. it reminds me a bit of when other codes attack league for not being skillful game: it's extremely skillful, just not in ways that are obvious such as in flowing aussie rules and the round-ball game.

he kept on saying stuff about "purists" which i've always felt is a codeword for snobbery - afl is a game with massive diversity built into it. that's my favourite thing about it.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know
