on a semi related note whats wrong with people jumping on the bandwagon. People complain the swans dont attract new fans in nsw and so forth, then the same people complain when everyone jumps on the bandwagon, gotta start supporting sometime.

Everyone jump on for all i care if they want to follow and support the club its better for everyone!

im feeling angry about that letter it sums up the attidude of a lot of people ive met!

I sincerely thought this was a National Competition. We have Sydney Swans supporters in Perth. Adelaide, Los Angeles, London, Singapore ... Sorry, got carried away.

Clifford is some-one of limited vision. The Sydney Swans stop at the NSW border, probably the same way his world stops at the edge of his property.

Leave him be. He will go away, someday.

Then you have this which was in yesterday's Sydney Morning Herald....

After a drought lasting several years the AFL premiership has finally been taken out by a Melbourne team, South Melbourne.

It became clear during the presentations that the team was still South Melbourne. The players and the coach saw themselves as South Melbourne players, based in Sydney. The coach only just remembered to acknowledge Sydney in his speech when he was presented as the coach of South Melbourne.

After years of toil to earn a place in the hearts and minds of this city, it is clear they never really were Sydney's team and should go back to Melbourne. A new team should be created, with none of the unwanted baggage that came with the South Melbourne team.

I think we should all ignore this baiting. We are united as one and should ignore these fools. However, Bob Davis introducing the team at the end of the GF as South Melbourne was wrong and a rather inflamatory thing to do.

                Just remember the banner

                One Team, Two Cities

                Living the Dream

I had enough Victorian members rubishing Sydney members this week to make me want to scream, I didn't react, just quietly made the point that we all follow the team in a different way.

When I started the Swans yahoo mailing list in 1998 there were numerous threads that argued that the old bloods supporters were the real supporters as opposed to the people that started following the swans after they arrived in Sydney and vice versa.

This whole issue needs to be put behind us and each cities supporters should just accept each other and get on with just enjoying the moment.

I fail to see how "baggage" can be a detriment to the club! I jumped on the bandwagon before it was even a few planks of wood in 94. I didn't know about the history, I didn't understand it, but as the years have gone on, my pride in my club has only ever grown - that goes right on back to 1874. In the last few weeks I've had a lot of people say "why is there a banner in the CS with 1874 on it?" and the explanation, although somewhat simple, has always been a pride-filled one. As has recognition of the greats of the years gone by, be they from north or south of the border. As long as the club acknowledges the two entities of South Melbourne and Sydney are forever entwined because of the roots of South and the relocation, then it is something we should all be proud of. Same way that on Saturday night it was the "mexicans" and the "northerners" partying on together, the same way so many people opened their doors to fans from elsewhere for games this season - we are all as one, united by history and united by the red and white, and they can never take that away from us. In all hoesty I feel sorry for the morons who can't understand that, because it is something they can never be a part of either.

Another one of my loves baseball, the team i follow has a good philosophy, they call their supporters 'Red Sox Nation'... implying that their fans can come from wherever they want, it doesn't matter!

Come on, he lives in Potts Point, enough said!
Yeah, I don't think location should have anything to do with where you live.

Am a Victorian based Swans supporter, so can you can please explain Potts Point thing ?

Is it a rich area, North Shore or something ?

Potts Point is just down from Kings Cross, it is an expensive area.

Comparison in Melbourne would probably be St Kilda

Whilst not siding with this bloke at all, isn't wrong to judge what someone has written based purely on where we live ?
