Originally posted by punter257 there was a better pic in the australian yesterday and NMWBloods posted a great one that has been doing the email rounds with the ball replaced by the premiership cup
Originally posted by Frog I have a picture from a different angle and that shows Leo has hold of the mark with the outstretched Wet Toast hands at least 3 or 4 feet away ... The angle on the picture you see here (I feel) is deceiving ...
Yeah, I thought that too. But then I thought that other pic was taken a fraction of a second later - Leo was moving across the pack & takes the ball with him. I have no doubt Seaby has those big eyes on the ball & has a big chance of catching it.
no one woulda taken that mark it woulda spilt lose and well i dont know what woulda happened then with judd in the vasinity barry round probably woulda jumped the fence and cleared it

The best (or at least most spectacular) marks are taken with another player as a launching pad, or at least a balancing point, so that you're not jumping into thin air. Wayne Carey built the entire second half of his career on the principle.
It's been pointed out before that Leo, in throwing himself right to left (as viewed from the kicker's angle) had almost gone too far and had to lean back slightly against the direction of his flight to get both hands around the ball.
Something else I noticed on seeing the replay of the mark is that Leo used Bucky (who was otherwise hilariously out of position) just for a fraction of a second as a balancing-point against which to slow the momentum of his body. So in the course of downing his 89th beer, Bucky can claim credit for the mark.
As I posted yesterday, this is well and truly my favourite photo of it, because the expression on Nic Fosdike's face is priceless. He's doing a perfect impression of the look on the faces of half a million Swans supporters at the time.
