In deciding who were the best players today.

OK our two Black Pearls were outstanding , but deciding on the next best is not easy - maybe this is a sign we are on the right track , playing as a team , not just relying on a couple of superstars.

Anyone else both disappointed and surprised that Jason Saddington did not get on the AFL "best" list today?
In fairness , they would have had a tough job on selections as there were plenty of candidates.

The only negative to come out of today was that we turned the ball over too often from kick-ins.

Still , we've just beaten the best side in the world and it's been one of the best Mothers Days ever!

I'm going to sit down and watch the replay at 9, and try to decide who to give TLM votes to. I had a pretty easy time picking them last week, but I think I will really struggle this week.

As for the best lists, they could have put a few extra on there if they had room. Saddo played much stronger than I've seen him play before. Tadhg was VERY hard at the contest. Nick Davis' effort was the best he's put in for us. The list goes on and on, but those were some of the things I picked up on in relative terms compared to games earlier in the year.

Agree there too Charlie, there were a heap of positives in today's game, and alot of the players really stepped up. Now to maintain the intensity for the rest of the season and beyond, and not make it seem like we only 'get up' for the top teams.

And J Bolton was really really hard at it (even for him). I'm pretty sure it was hime who crashed through the pack early on right in the centre of the ground at absolutely top speed and came away with the footy. I'm only pretty sure because whoever it was was going so fast and didn't stop that I couldn't get the number!!!

Kirk was fantastic, except for a missed kick or two. (And one time near the boundary when he forgot to go for the ball and just leant into Lappin when there were Swans coming in support)

Fosdike close to his best form which is when he is unobtrusively running through the middle all day giving and receiving handballs.

best of all for me is the form of Mathews. I really liked his attitude when he first started. Over the last few weeks he has completely turned around some woeful form. Against the hawks his disposal reached an absolutely lowpoint. Could not hit a five foot wide urinal from one foot away.

However, not only is he now getting the ball a hell of a lot but when he gets it I'm actually pleased as there is a feeling that he is about to do something useful with it. Brilliant.

Kennelly is big enough now that when he runs hard at the ball opposition midfielders would be more worried about getting hurt than he is. Brilliant. Shows courage and dash.

Leo is playing absolutely the right brand of football. The more he succeeds at this (and I reckon he's right 8 or 9 times out of ten at the mo) the more confidence he will get and we will see his error rate continue to drop.

O'loughlin and goodes just outstanding!!!

Goodes has now asserted himself as one of the premier players in the competition, IMO, he is the hardest player in the competition to match up on.

i disagree with that analysis of kirk vs lappin contest, i really applauded that... he knew that if he went for the ball he wouldnt have kept his feet so he lent back and lappin went for the ball and lost his feet and the ball trickled over the line... IMO kirk made a quick assesment of the options and opted for the best one as there was a greater chance of lappin creating a goal if kirk had lost his feet
