New Glenelg coach David Noble says he is excited to have 20-year-old ruckman Michael Griffiths, recruited from VFL team Port Melbourne.

''He's 208cm, so pretty tall, and did some pre-season with Essendon in the lead up to the rookie draft, so they had their eye on him,'' Noble says.

Noble recently signed the promising young prospect after talking to AFL scouts.

''(This is) an opportunity to bolster our stocks in the ruck and provide him with an opportunity to develop here and I guess potentially get drafted.''

Griffiths joins fellow key position recruits Leigh Brockman and Trevor Cranston, signed before Christmas, but the Tigers are still looking for a couple of on-ballers.
he played for port melbourne, can anyone tell me if they saw him play???

Could you even imagine the match up problems sides would have?

207cm ruckman in the ruck, and 204cm player down forward, or vice versa.

Could you also imagine if they were in the forward line AT THE SAME TIME and move Goodes into the ruck for a quarter.

Just bomb it and let their height do the rest

Imagine also if we had Ball still. 3 200cm+ versitile players

Not getting a bit ahead of ourselves are we, boys?

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Your getting far too ahead of yourself, what are the chances of this actually coming into action?
                  Very unlikely I would suggest!!

So we haven't actually recruited this guy yet? I wondered why I hadn't heard the name.

He sounds tall enough, but can he actually play?? Sometimes you can be too tall for this game, and become ungainly/unwieldy while running and kicking. Marking okay, but the rest of it can be an ugly game. (I am thinking of someone I saw a couple of weeks ago, but can't remember who, drat it)

Chances? I dont know. We definitely need another option in the ruck, and if this guy can play we could probably get him for a second round pick.

It was just an 'imagine' idea, not something that definitely will happen!
