    Let's go to the disco....

been away this week, so I may have missed a post on the subject, but does anyone know the origins of the song at the after match?

Yeah, I had the kids all singing it on our holiday this week.
People were looking at us and wondering what the hell we were singing

...I recall hearing it at old NSL soccer games back in the 80's.

A more appropiate one from the old NSL days would be 'we are red, we are white, we are f...in' dynamite, tra-la la la la la la...la la' ;-)

Yeah, I first heard it being sung at a Northern Spirit match a few years ago, so I daresay it's a soccer song (no idea of its origins).

          Gimme a D!
          Gimme an I!
          Gimme an S!
          Gimme a C!
          Gimme an.. Oooooooooooooooooooo....
          Let's go to the disco!
          Let's go to the disco!
          Dah dah dah dah HEY!

Many variations, including "Let's go $@#%#$ mental!" and "Sasha is a girl's name!" (aimed at then Wollongong Wolves striker Saso Petrovski, now playing for the mighty Sydney FC). the opening part is optional, and quite often you don't have time to do it in the throes of post-goal celebrations...

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

            Wasn't it "ole, ole, ole"? That's what I heard. I wasn't there, so I wouldn't know.
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

No Bon Bon. Nicksy lead it at Punt Road and it was perfect for the moment.
I can reminisce again now, work is over. This has been the longest working week of my life. All I have wanted to do is to have been at every function possible.

I'm with you there. Wish I could have found a spare $160 four months ago. Wouldn't even have cared about going on my own. Very glad I managed to get to the Punt Rd, Albert Park and then the tickertape parade today. It's going to be a long summer

                  A better known rendition is

                  Lets all do a Richo
                  Lets all do a Richo
                  Wah Wah Wah Wah
Wah Wah Wah Wah (Whilst rubbing your eyes)

This came about when some uncouth fan yelled out to Richo "Hava a Sook Richo" and he gestured back to this fan. From then he was just reeled in more and more.

It is correct that you are incorrect.
