They did mention that if he retired they'd look at him as a Melbourne based coach... i can't expect him to have any role with the club thats based in Sydney... due to his outstanding commitment to his kids.

He will be missed... no no, not more tears, and here i was thinking they were over after the parade today! Onya Stewie... legend!

I've loved seeing your left foot bang from outside 50 on the run!
You are a star and stand beside all the Swans greats!!!!!!!!!!

Very disappointed that Stewie (unless I blinked and missed it) didn't get a berth in the parade.

Anyways, no point cryin' over spilt milk. Apart from being a fantastic leader, Stewie was one of those rare players who was still playing at his peak at 33 yoa. Some achievement. I hope he's appropriately acknowledged tonight.

Just got back from the Dinner and each speaker acknowledged the contribution Stuey made to the club. It was terrific recognition for a magnificent ambassador for this club

Thanks for the memories Stu you will be missed.

In fact Roos said that Stewie can lay claim to being the greatest captain the Swans has had. And that's w Barry Round, Bob Skilton and Kel all in the room. It was acknowledged that he and Roos set up the winning culture that resulted in last weekend's result.

Richard Colless said tonight that the board has given the footy department a mandate to use Stuey in some capacity. Maybe as a Melbourne based assistant coach, that would be ideal.

This has started me bawling.... I think I need to go to the doctor...it's all become too emotionally draining.
Thanks Stuey for everything ,she types on a soggy keyboard. The best bit is that a Tigers supporter friend of mine was always running you down. How sweet it is.

Disappointing to bow out in the circumstances he did. I will have many great memories of him in the red and white

I wish Stuey best of luck, I have loved watching him play for many years....he was always a favourite and I look forward to him still being a part of the swans in some capacity.

dad and I will miss him on the field as we had for half of this year

Congratulations Stuey on a fine and distinguished career as player, captain and mentor. All best wishes for the future. My abiding memory is of you tearing through the middle to bang a long range nail into Port's coffin in '03.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I know it's probably the right decision for both player and club but I'm a sentimentalist and wish it wasn't so.

One of my favourite ever players to don the red and white and is probably one of the top 5 reasons why the Swans are now Champions of the AFL.

My personal favourite memory is the Kangas game back in 1999, just days after the Sydney hailstorm. A player who looked to be fading quickly in his AFL career suddenly grasped the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half and began the journey towards becoming one of the greats of the Swans.

2 Great moments stand out for me.

                                1. Running through the centre of the SCG in the 96 Prelim with Dale Lewis on the end of one if his trademark raking left footers. Started the comeback in that game

                                2. Kicking the winning goal against North from the pocket after being down by 40 points in the 2nd Qtr. Same game as Kels greatest goal ever.

                                Thanks for the memories Stuey
