Roos as Coach of the Year.

I wonder how many swans would have made the top 50 if they had not won a premeirship.

He was deemed - by the club - to be the best finals player in a premiership year.

His top 10 B&F - despite an ordinary first half of the year - is not a fluke. It's the 5th consecutive year he's done it.

The best and fairest doesn't *quite* identify the 'best' player. It rewards the player who does their job the best. As I've said, Crouch is very good at what he does. But that does not translate into being the 44th best player in the league, nor does it necessarily translate into being one of the best players in the team.

And for the past two years he's been selected as a top up player for the team to take on Ireland, suggesting he's not far off being an All-Star type player.
Not true. It means he's good at playing a hybrid game. If the AFL had a game of Australian football, he would not be amongst the 44 selected to play in it.

I don't think he's one of the top 50 players in the competition but I do think that his selection as one of the top 50 performed players in 2005 is reasonable.
I think it's absurd. Crouch's season was patchy at best, although I agree he played very well in the finals.
      We hate Anthony Rocca
      We hate Shannon Grant too
      We hate scumbag Gaspar
      But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

Thats why I don't know why ppl get so worked up about it. Old Mike gets 3 chances to choose his top 50 in a year. He has no idea wht he is on about half the time. I gave up reading his articles years ago, coz he is a ********head reporter.

To be fair to crouchy's first half of the season, he was probably too injured to be out there, so its a bit harsh saying he was playing poorly. It was a minor miracle he was playing at all.

I think that Crouch is a very good tagger and his pace and durability are assets but his disposal can be very erratic. Even in the Geelong final when he was the 2nd best player his disposal was a real worry at times.
