I'd prefer to keep him - but the reality is that he has a right to go elsewhere to resurrect his career. He isn't likely to get much of a look-in with Kennelly, Dempster, Goodes, Fosdike, Davis and O'Keefe all ahead of him for spots in the flanks and wings. Besides, this trade offers us probably our best chance to get Everitt or McDonald.
Good luck, Saddo.

Yep. I guess he would only be worth a 2nd round pick now. What pick is the Doggies 2nd round?

... would suit all parties. I'd also like to package 27 with 19 for Everitt, but that's looking unobtainable now. I suspect we'll be rolling the dice with McDonald.

I like this trade. And I agree about McDonald, we already have a knee-reconstructed ruckman, why trade for another?
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!
Good luck to him and probably a good decision as he doesn't have a future here. I really don't rate him as a player but wish him all the best and hope he can prove me wrong.
According to Herald Sun McDonald will be re-signing with the Lions for a season.
Leaves us with few options as I can't see us agreeing to the deal that Hawthorn will no doubt demand for Spida.

What do people think is a fair return for ROK? I certainly don't think Spida is given his age. No other club would look at Davis. I think Saddington would have had great currency a few years ago but now a 2nd rounder would probably be his best bet or a trade for a like player.
a fair return for ROK would probably be a pretty decent midfielder such as embley or johnstone - probably with some picks to even it up
as for saddo, he's run his race with us and i wish him all the best in the future. its pretty disappointing in a way as i thought he was going to be a great player for us

If Nick decided he was happy to go every other club would look at him.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
Originally posted by Mark Yep sure would, its amusing people think that he would not be very sought after.
My stance on the Davis issue is based on his unwillingness to play outside of Sydney, not on ability Mark or Stellation. Clubs are reluctant to deal with homesick players. One thing it does do though is probably mean the player concerned doesn't have the bargaining players others have.
