Brett Montgomery delisted by Port

Ok, first of all, Montgomery is old (will turn 33 in June) and would be a two year option at best. However, he is still quite a good player, and we aren't honestly looking further than two years ahead. He only missed one game for Port this year, finished sixth in the best and fairest, and was delisted because they have too many old players in the 22.

Would he be worth a late pick? He's not really a type of player that we have a shortage of (180cm, 82kg small backman). But I suspect the club will have a look at him.

a taller player would make it more tempting. I dont see the point in us taking him. I agree he has some footy left in him and think he will get taken by another club, but he will be back in victoria id say!

Plays the rebounding HB flanker role where we are more than adequately covered. But if we have to make a 3rd selection in the draft and he's available at pick 80-whatever and we can sign him for a year, then why not...

Brad Scott could be another option if a trade deal isn't found for him tomorrow. In fact, he'd be better than Monty.

Would give us a backline enforcer. I would love to see how any opposition sniper would handle Baz coming at him from one direciton, and Scott from the other.

He isn't a reject. He's being squeezed out because of salary cap pressure.

He played in two flags, and only missed a third because of injury. Hardly a 'reject'.

No, we'd be recruiting him as a mid-sized defender who can run through the middle if necessary.

Scott would walk into our best 22.
