    The Spida soap opera continues.

Hawthorn chief executive Ian Robson has disputed a suggestion that his club tried to trade All-Australian ruckman Peter Everitt to Sydney in the final hour of last week's exchange period.

    ...

"At no stage, at no stage, did we enter into any negotiations in regards to Peter Everitt. He was, at the start of the week, a contracted and required player, he was a contracted and required player for the duration of the week and at the end of the week.

"There was zero deviation from us . . . if other people choose to take different interpretations that's for them to contemplate and to justify."
Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson indicated that there was some form of exchange between the two clubs about 31-year-old Everitt, a former St Kilda star who was runner-up in the Hawks' best and fairest award this year.

"They didn't want to give up any premiership players," Clarkson told Radio 3AW yesterday.

Or is it the Hawks in damage control trying to appease Spida?

Wouldn't appeasing Spida be "Sorry mate, we tried to trade with Sydney but they wouldn't give us a serious offer for your amazing talent." not "We never planned on trading Spida"?

The most disappointing thing to come out of this whole schamozzle is that the Hawks don't deserve to keep Spida.

Initially I thought, oh well, Spida has cornered himself somewhat, but when you see how the Hawks have done business with his future, Jonathan Hay and Trent Croad in the past, you get a handle on their ethics.

Sadly for Peter Everitt, he has to play another year at this dysfunctional rabble (two shades of s*** - now that is funny). I reckon the Crawf was right in his assessment pre-2005, "who know's what's going on?"

I am surprised they didn?t let him go. After all aren?t they only interested in securing some more priority picks?

We couldn't give them market value. They knew that, we knew that. The question was whether they wanted to keep a disgruntled player on list regardless.

Still, Clarkson looks like a plonker now - he comes out & says he only wants players who have "bought in" to the grand vision on deck & when one of them says he doesn't buy it they do everything they can to keep him.

I can understand why they'd keep him - but why make a statement like that if they don't intend to live by it?

They have 5 first round draft picks and kept Spida, in fairness that's what they wanted!

I found it quite funny how after saying:

"At no stage, at no stage, did we enter into any negotiations in regards to Peter Everitt. He was, at the start of the week, a contracted and required player, he was a contracted and required player for the duration of the week and at the end of the week."
... followed shortly by the admission that:

{Seeing as he wasn't even there at the said time of the request by Hawthorn} "I therefore am not in a position to account for every single conversation that did or did not take place between our club and any other club that was there,"
FFS! I hate idiots... and this man is an idiot.
